5x the rate???

OK, right now i pay sub $100 for liability on my Suz GS500. I plan on getting a FZR600. I called for a quote on the insurance, once again just liability, and they said it would be about $500 for the year! Come on, that much of an increase? I can understand double or two and a half times, but damn near 5 times. That is ludicrous.

People take these things too seriously!

The insurance company that I had when I had my fizzer wouldn't even cover that bike. So, I had to go to another company to get insurance, and it was outrageous too. It's something about being stolen or wrecked frequently. Same thing with a Honda Civic or Accord. More expensive to insure than a VW Jetta.

Hey baby! You ever been on the back of an expensive sportbike??

Also anything with FZR, GSXR, YZF, ZX, Ninja, CBR, RCV or any other sportbike usually gets a "Hi Perf" surcharge or on their blackball list.

I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested.

That's high, but not unheard of. I've heard of people getting quoted like $1200 and up a year.

That's the beauty of the Bandit..... looks like a tourer with the soul of an oil cooled GSX-R1100.

DAAYYYUUUMMMM!!! I guess I shouldn't complain. Well, I called my insurance company and turns out I would get a better rate opening a new policy with Progressive. I have yet to talk to the Gecko. Maybe they'll beat Progressive. Oh, and I guess VFR is not on the blackball list either because my friend has a VFR750 and pays less than my new quote still! I just don't get it.

The times I've called Geico their rates always sucked. I was with Progressive for a little while and they were pretty good (helped that I had my car with them as well).

I'm now with Country Companies and they beat Progressive by a considerable amount.

Had an no-fault accident on my record and that kept my rates higher for 3 yrs. The accident came off my record but Progressive didn't want to lower their amount until the policy expired - so that means I would be stuck paying a way high monthly for about 5 more months. Screw that!

Country Companies seem to just go by the engine CC size. I told her I had a Bandit 1200 and it was a certain amount. I then told her the actual engine size was 1157cc and the rate went down a little.

What sucks is that most bigger companies won't insure your cycle unless you also have your car policy with them. Geico and Progressive are one of the few out there that will do a cycle by itself.

If Progressive ends up being a few bucks more than Geico, I'd go with Progressive. The time I was with them I got hail damage on my car. Made a phone call to get the claim started and an adjuster met me at my house right after work and had cut a check for me on the spot (minus my deductible). This was all done in a matter of 3 hours. Can't beat that.

The amount of $$ that Country Companies beat Progressive by was enough for me to switch. I've heard good things about their service too - hopefully I won't have to find out though.
