DVD Burning ?'s

This stuff is getting really cheap now... 8X DVD-/+R/RW for $120. Good speed and good price. I really never paid attention to the whole "burning" technology industry so maybe someone did.

Whats the story w/ burning DVD's?

great way to store lots of data for backup purposes. also good for making backups of your dvd movies, incase of scratching.

Last time I checked in burning DVD movies really didn't work. This was about a year ago and I really haven't followed the progress, a little odd because I generally follow the computer industry pretty closely. Can DVD movies be burned effeciently?

Some can, some cant. Depends on who produced the pic. Still is illegal basically. Also DVD is a great way to make home movies.

Yeah, but you can back up movies. My daughter has a habit of scratching DVD's, on my 3rd Lion King already.

There are programs out there to help you copy, er, backup your movies. I have successfully backed up over 100 titles.

Check out this website for some decrypting software...

dvdrhelp.com

There's some good info on hardware, software, and compatibility of blank media.

Blank media can be had for as little as $0.45 each when purchased in bulk from places like allmediaoutlet.com

Don't pay $2/each from the store!!

PM me for details on how to rip, convert, and copy movies if you want.

theres several different programs out there to do it (DVD X Copy, 321 studio, replicant) They range is price from free to $70. Personally I use DVD X copy and havent found a DVD yet that I couldnt copy.

There's curently a law suit against the software companies because they programs facilitate piracy. But making a copy of the DVD isn't illegal, its what you do after you copy it. If you own a legal copy you are aloud to make personal copys under the "continued use" provision of the copyright law.

It is NOT illegal to copy DVDs for your own private use! This falls under the Fair Use laws. It is a huge push from the movie industry and the RIAA to try to make copying illegal and it is BS as long as you paid for the original material and do not distribute the copies.

I bought a BusLink internal DVD Burner (roughly $99), DVD X Copy Gold (costs like $80)... don't bother pirating it. I had some set up troubles, but their tech support walked me through it (after a 30 minute hold time). All in all, very painless and I'd HIGHLY recommend it.

I've only found 2 movies that I cannot copy... and those are the Cirque Du Soliel DVD's. Anything you'd normally be able to buy at Best Buy, you can copy.

It's very handy if you have kids/pets/crappy DVD player.

Blockbuster now has a deal... $24/month, you always have 2 DVD's checked out. No late fees, no limit on the number of rentals. It's great if you need to copy a movie that you've purchased that no longer works. Technically, I think you can even copy the movie (not the special features) if you own it on VHS.

Also, if you have HBO, I've heard you can copy any movie they've shown while you've subscribed to them. (not the special features). It falls under the "fair use" laws.

That is !

Think about seriously; When you watch a dvd the optic eye only reads the digital info..........

When you copy a DVD you are only using the optic eye to read the dvd. hence forth...........DONT BELIEVE THE HYPE!

Not true. My buddy has been doing that deal for a couple months now - copying every one. Every day or every other day he walks in and gets a couple of new ones.

Works great!

Blockbuster's selection is kinda crappy - that's why I personally use Netflix.

Does Blockbuster have Benny Hill's greatest hits AND The Man Show on DVD?? Umm.. I think not. I rest my case.

As MUCH AS I WOULD LIKE TO DISPEL THIS...i personally have seen it twice and "HEARD" of a couple.

1. That stuff in L.A.
2. Fred w/ the R1
3. That stunter in traffic (but i forget where) with the media and stuff.

And besides, even if there is the REMOTE and i mean remote possibility of getting in shit for something you typed is it worth it?

I do know for a fact that we have multiple municipal officers, 4 different federal agency enforcement officers, and even a loan officer on here!

That last one was a joke but i am sure there is a loan officer on here!
