Need to shop for a TV.

So what do you guys think is a good TV? I'm looking for a 32 or 36 inch one.

I'm leaning towards a sony to watch speedvision on but are they worth the extra money??

My price range is like no more then 800 bones.

Whats Speedvision?

WHich ever fits your space that its gonna sit in. Personally a 31" is big enough for me.

I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested.

My buddy sells panasonic and all of the ones i've seen have a great picture. Sharp looking set also. they have a 36" the website says it retails for $699 but you could probably get it cheaper at a non-chain store. Cost is probably close to $500.

Flat screen is definitely better. You should be able ot pick up a 32" Sony Flatscreen for under $800, but their 36" is probably closer to $900. I'd expect you could find a Panasonic 36" flat screen for under tha price.

I have a 27" sony flatscreen and glad I went with sony. All of the others had realtively poor sound quality and the picture just a little less crisp.

From what I understand, Sony is losing ground to Panasonic. Go with a Panasonic, Flat screen, triple (digital) comb filter(its all about the filter), with S-video and Component jacks.

Here is my breakdown, there are basically three tiers:

1st Sony

2nd Panasonic (emphasis on picture), JVC(emphasis on sound), Toshiba

3rd Philips, Zenith, Samsung, Daewoo, RCA

I have a 55" Mitsubshi, flat screen, it's usually off Because even with digital cable.....there is absolutely nothing to watch I mean Inside Motorcycling sucks, Two Wheel Tuesday is ok, I could record it, but then I would have to find time to watch it. Every once awhile I watch 10 mintues of a DVD I rented, then fall asleep. The picture pretty good tho, but a total waste of money in my eyes, if I was going to do it again, I would spend $200 on a POS from Wal-Mart.

Ya know Rick... I'm right there with ya. First piece of furniture I bought for my house was a 46" widescreen Mitsu. And to be honest - I spend more time watching my old-ass Panasonic 21" in my bedroom, then I do the big screen. I kinda wish I would've NOT opted for the $2,000 big screen and instead went with a nice 32" flatscreen tube deal for half the price...

for that $$ range probably a toshiba 36" for all around quality and performance. btw 42" plasmas @ sams run around 1500 (daewoo though)

Look, I can appreciate this. I was young too, I felt just like you. Hated authority, hated all my bosses, thought they were full of shit. Look, it's like they say, if you're not a rebel by the age of 20, you got no heart, but if you haven't turned establishment by 30, you've got no brains. Because there are no story-book romances, no fairy-tale endings. So before you run out and change the world, ask yourself, "What do you really want?"

make sure when you people use the term "flat screen" you are all on the same page. Sounds like the poster is looking for a tube based tv, whereas rick and omni are relaying their experiences with crt based rear projection units.

1500 for a 42in plasma at sams? anyone else got info on that? I'm guessing its only ED at best, but I'd be cool with that!

I've got 2 Toshiba Tv's 27 & 36" great Tvs for the price. I know a lady just got a Toshiba 32" for something like $400ish. Just look in the salespapers Circuit City and Best Buy always have Tv for sale. I would go atleast 36" if you can afford it.

I know BestBuy has a 36" Toshiba for something like 600 right now. Sony you will pay a little more for.

www.bestbuy.com
www.circuitcity.com

36" Sony Flat -$1000.
36" Toshiba Flat -$800

Not sure the Sony is worth $200 more????
