Snowmobile Question....

Some time ago there was a snowmobile thread. I can't find it.

I guess the main question is.....

Where would one go not too far away about a 2 to 3 hour ride to rent a snowmobile for a couple hours and a motel?

Cause I have no clue.....!

I think given the current lack of snow, 2-3 hours may be tough. I'm further north than you and I'd have to go 3-4 hours for any decent snow. I heard Eagle River had 18" and good trails.

Life has no instruction manual. Parts and labor can be impossible to find. Many go down the road with parts that are in need of service. A breakdown is eventual.

The problem is there isnt much snow 2-3 hrs north of here.

edit: beat me to it

I was in the Eagle River area last week. There isnt 18" of snow on the trails but there is enough outside of the towns. The trails in town are pretty brown. Last weekend was Derby weekend in Eagle River

but there might be on the weekend of FEB 14-15th.

My question isn't the lack of snow now..... I know that. My question is WHERE? 2 to 3 hours from here?

Found this by searching yahoo:

Mapquest says 5 1/2 hour drive, and I'd call and check snow conditions first. Some guys at Polaris said the Michigan UP had snow.

Sorry, everything I's finding is in Northern Wi, or the Michigan UP.

Good Luck.

I'm going on the Feb 14 weekend also. I go to hayward WI. usually have good snow and over 500 miles of groomed trails,

i rent from haywardpowersports.com in hayward, you can even rent a 700cc from them! at 199 for a 23 hour rental, its a real nice place and nice people. There is lodging and cabins all over the area right off of the trails. Go to haywardlakes.com to find lodging.
Have fun, any questions pm me.

Meg,

Try these websites:

www.johndee.com (go to the N.C.N hot link and investigate the asterics for different areas).
also
www.skyviewlodge.com (cool place)

Also do a web search on the chamber of commerce sites for towns like Hurley, WI, Mercer, WI, Presque Isle, WI, Manitiwish Waters, WI, Boulder Junction, WI, St. Germain, WI, Eagle River, WI...the list goes on.

Currently the snow conditions are going to force you to drive 5-6 hours to northern Wisconsin to sled right now. Lake Geneva, Lake Delevan areas have trails (not sure about rentals) to ride when there is snow...nothing now , though.

I hope this helps...good luck and have fun.

Shiny side up, rubber side down.
