Computer Virus Spreading

Have any of you been getting the new virus that is going around with the attachment in an email saying HI and the text reading "The message cannot be represented in 7-bit ASCII encoding and has been sent as a binary attachment."

The name of the virus is MY Doom or Norvarg. My company has been getting hit.

yep, its rampant. get the latest virus signatures and you'll be ok. we've stopped at least 300 coming through our email server.

My company's getting hit, too. I'm just deleting all suspicious incoming messages.

Hey Chris... what software are you using to block emails at the server level? I just migrated to Exchange here, and I need some advice. Thanks.

using a product called surf control, its also a spam filter. costs a bundle too, but works pretty well. we block upwards of 1000 emails per day with it.

oh and the surf control is coupled with InnoculateIT for the antivirus, we use norton everwhere else, but its a long story why we had to use a third party in conjunction with surf control.

Funny that the virus has a DOS based attack planned for 2 future dates on a certain website. That site? www.sco.com, a unix company! hahaha!

I've had over 100 through my email system. After the first one yesterday (I didn't open it), I updated my definitions and it has caught and deleted all but one...that file ended in .htm.

I don't open attachments unless it is something I am expecting.

well today was the worst day of my 1.5 year career as a support manager. It wasn't as bad as it could have been. It's hard cleaning computers when you have remote offices all over the country. Our email server was only down for an hour, and that's because we had some stupid programmer deleting email's off the server thinking he was doing a good thing

pfff, this was light. 1.5 years? Stick with it, the worst is yet to come. If you arent still at the office trying to rectify things after 48 hours then you havent seen bad yet.
