Ebay email (scam)

I recieved an email from "ebay" yesterday and it said they were updating their records for the new year and they needed to verify my account information since they took over a joint vomething with paypal i could update that as well. it even stated to look at the lower right corner to ensure it was a secure page. they requested screenname, password, and all paypal stuff as well. It really looked legit!!

Being cautious i went directly to ebay and emailed them at [email protected]>com along with forwarding the email.

i recieved and email back today from ebay stating that was a false email and NOT to fill out any information. They thanked me for forwarding it and said the return address bar would help them greatly with the investigation.

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up in case you recieve one of these. As stated EBAY NOR PAYPAL WILL EVER ASK YOU FOR INFORMATION IN AN EMAIL.

Hope this helps.............

Nice Kelly,

someone hacked my co-workers account this week and bought a couple cameras.

I got the same thing yesterday, except from PayPal. Looked really legit, but being wary, I checked the properties and saw that the email originated from another server. I did the same thing, and sent mine to [email protected]

I got the paypal one too. I was a little disappointed with their response of "we can't do anything about it". But I doubt there really is anything they can do about it other than inform people.

I got the ebay one. I replied asking the sender if he thought I was really dumb enough to give him my credit cards, social security number, and ATM pin number.

I didn't bother reporting it to ebay because so many people already had.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!
