Just staying with the i need a new bike theme, its been on my mind also.

I like the RC cuz its the closest thing to my bike. Kind of want to stay with a twin.
SV650 is cheap and once paid off will be track bike? don't know if it has the power to move me?

I-4's would be a new ballgame, take getting used too.

Buell Firebolt. I saw one at the dealer and i must say there looking better.

Don't sell the SV short...its not a screamer like the other bikes listed (Buell excepted), but it can be a lot of fun on the track. One of my bikes is a race prepped SV650 and with a good rider it will hang with a 600 pretty well (except on a long straight). My guess would be a top speed of 130 mph, which isn't too bad. They are cheap and there is not much to wreck on them.

You can learn a lot about corner speed starting with a smaller bike on the track. The RC51 is a great bike, but it is big, heavy, expensive to track/race prep and costly to fix. If you are buying for street only...great sound, great bike.

I test rode the Buell at a trackday in March...hmmmm, trying to be polite here, maybe 70-72 HP.....hmmmmm, might wanna spend your $$$$$ elsewhere.

The SV may handle great, but that suspension and ergos are too little for a guy you're size anywhere but on the track. You'll miss the torque of a big twin. Get the RC.

The 954 and Gixxer 750 are also great choices. Go sit on a bunch. The one you want will probably stand out.

I voted the GSX-750. Can go PLENTY fast and not as common. Little less pricey and may be less on insurance (so you can pay her off quicker). I'm not sure how they sell in relation to the other bikes but you may get a good deal on one! If you got to have the twin, obvious choice is the RC51.

Cherrypicker's right about the SV suspension. A guy your size would need to upgrade the front right out of the shoot if you are going on the track or riding real hard. A lot of people have good luck with just changing fork oil to 20wt though. But Progressive fork springs are cheap..less than $150. Fitting a GSX-750 rear suspension isn't cheap or easy, since you end up doing mods to the battery case. Not sure about other rear options. SVrider has TONS of ideas if you are looking at this. And yes, it would make a bitchin' track bike.

Ever thought of the Triumph Daytona? You obviously like not so common bikes (but don't we all). It's got the low end of a V-Twin and higher end HP of the 4 bangers (but not quite as much). 2002 models have remapped FI that suppodely works LOTS better than previous years. And that sound.. I wish they made one for a guy my size (600 cc or so).

the gixxer750 is hella common. they are everywhere, not that that is a bad thing. All the bugs are worked out with this model, since it was intro'd in 2000. I like the RC alot though. An awful lot. But if someone said cost was no object and asked me to pick from all those bikes, i would probably pick the Duc you own now. Sex on wheels, and a great bike.

Triumph- too nice of bike. I am going to drive this one into the ground also. even though i have slowed down a little with the miles.

SV- well see i can imagin its power being close to the duc supersport/monster 900. good power up till 120 top speed

Gsxr- I can track and be a icy-hot stunta


Rc-51 is on top of the list

Bimota/or Benelli- When i win the lottery

I will start shopping again as soon as i get back from Cali.

Well, the Buell firebolt is out of the running. looks are deceiving
I took it for a 20+ mile test ride 2x on the streets around laguna seca. I does really sem to lack power. maybe new louder exaust may fool me into think i'm going faster .
I did manage to pull a gabage wheelie right behind the leader. We were getting on the on ramp of highway and i shifted and whacked the trottle and up it came.
Maybe for a Sunday Cruiser/3rd bike . But first i need a primary and secondary/track bike?

But its good. I got my fix of riding for a few days.
Aprilia Test rides were probably booked on friday, and i came prepared with my

I read the motorcyclist review of the Buell. While Eric and company did an awesome job with the chassis and making everything fit, NOT having a decent engine to put into it kind of ruined it. It's essentially a bored out Sporty like all the other Buells. And that motor's older than dirt. It's less than 90bhp. I'll be the first to admit horsepower isn't everything, but to be competitive in the open class field it'd need a few more ponies. A V-rod engine perhaps?

Yes , agreed the design and chassie are cool. They oil fill is in the swing arm. the fuel is in the frame. and they have they airbox under the tank to get rid of the thing on the side.

Thats what i'd be waiting for is the v-rod engine. I asked the guy he said he didn't know, He thought the v-rod engine was big and not sure about fitment. I say, make it fit somehow.

It is a big engine, real big. And its heavy as all hell. I agree that they should stuff it in a sportbike frame, but if they couldn't lighten it up first that would help.

Gotta go with the Mille as well with the RC running a very close 2nd. Seen a few of the Mille's around and I gotta say that thing comes set up right out of the crate. If you look around you can even find them for close to the same price as the RC. Friend of mine picked up a used 2001 with low miles, de-restrictor and upgraded can for around $10,500.

I test rode Thursday a 2002 silver mille with a remus shotgun pipe and i liked it alot. Felt very confident going around corners and like the feel of the engine. MCC has a demo 2001 red mille but the thing is trying to get rid of the996 on trade. very temping
