Any newly hires here?

Is there a new procedure now besides Drug test? Its been 12 long yrs since I had mine and the last time I remember the Doctor was GHEY... Should I go through this BS again and take one for the team? Or stay with my old job and hope for the best?

I just started new job 3 weeks ago (after 11 years in the old place),
all depends on the place, but my place did the drug test in house and nothing else.

Pee test is pretty standard. Some companies will try to shrink your head too. It depends on company and field.

I'm pretty sure you can expect a drug test, background check, and driving record check from 90% of jobs.

With that being said, I have gotten a few gigs (full time, part time, and temp) with them skipping one of the 3 quite often, just depends which one they plan on skipping, most of the time it depends on the position/company.

What type of compnay are you applying to and what type of position? That'll allow us to make a much better guess.

Best bet for you is do some research on the company on their hiring procedures, and some research on the same position in mulitple different companies.

I've had to get a DOT physical for a job before too, all depends on the company/position.

I'll be in the same boat as you here pretty soon. I've been hearing talk about drug tests going from urine to hair testing(which goes back waaaaayy further). I know I'd pass a urine test without thinking twice, but I'll admit the hair testing thing has me a tad concerned.

I just re-read this. Dude, its not like they go in the can with you and hold your tool while you piss. All the piss tests i had, some chunky brown nurse gave me a cup and pointed me to the can. I deposited a sample in said cup, left it on the counter and was on my way. Quick professional exchange of goods.

Eh, I'll give it some thought.

Hey OP, you better lose the Cell-Tech, brotha. That shit'll cause a false positive for sure.

Hair testing is MUCH more expensive.

Even urine can costs $30-50, not counting any other pre-employment checks they do that make the initial hiring process that more expensive

Multiply that by the number of employees = $$$$$$

Most of them do drug testing to satisfy insurance requirments.

In your field, more than likely it'll still be a urine test

I needed to take a DOT physical for a job, hearing test, vision test, range of motions/stretching/etc, urine test, hernia test, etc but I'm in the Automotive field. I've had multiple jobs in this field, but only this job required a DOT physical because I need to have the ability to tow 10k+ lbs if needed.

Just do your research on that specific company and what they do, every compnay is a touch different

Good to know, thnx. I know a few yrs back, very few companies tested hair most likely due to cost like you said. But recently in social networking circles I'm hearing more and more about it.
