Motorcycle registration foibles.

So I moved to Chicago from Arizona. My bike is parked on the street with tags that expired last month. Needless to say it's been quite a revenue opportunity for the city

I still am waiting on documents to come in the mail to prove I am now a resident of the city so I can get an Illinois license and then transfer the bike to IL tags.

So my most immediate concern is getting the bike off the street and getting it to Cycle Tech near Midway so it can be stored for snowpocalypse or whatever is supposed to happen here.

Since I moved recently, money is tight and I also need a new battery for the bike. I need some help weighing the consequence of getting caught riding the motorcycle to Cycle Tech with bad tags versus the cost of having it towed all the way there from north Chicago.

Simple solution:

Renew AZ tag.

You can use a copy of your Lease, a utility bill sent to your new address, a voter registration, or any number of documents to show residency.

Oh Yeah, welcome to Chicago. Not so great timing on the move north, but I hope you come to enjoy it here.

As for riding with expired Out-of-state tags, do it in Rush Hour and no one will notice if you are riding sensibly.

I thought about that however it however it probably won't work since I have IL insurance now and they're unlikely to renew without proof of an Arizona policy.

I am ordering a new Shorai online so I can start my bike and get it there. I hope I don't get towed in the meantime.

Just buy a stock replacement battery . Every customer that I have with a Shorai , went back to a ''regular'' battery . They are finicky and unreliable . On top of that , you're not racing in moto gp , you dont need the weight savings , just the money savings . Anyone that offers storage , should have the ability to pick up your bike . I am not sure what part of town you're in , but look around.

Welcome to shitcago and enjoy the weather , construction and taxes .

Thanks Stanimal. It seems that the Shorai are very polarizing and some people love them and others think that they're garbage.

I am in Ravenswood and I am going to give Motorcycle Mania a call tomorrow to see if they have a spot left. They're much closer than the other place.
