New toy for the truck.

Got a new radio in the truck. Actually a top quality one finally. One of the new Kenwood Excelerons. Its a AM/FM/CD/MP3/Chager controller head unit. Complete controls over woofers, mids, tweeters and x-over points. Best of all, 10 hrs of music on 1 CD. Working on making 1 MP3 CD for it right now. All I need is an external 40 GB HD for the computer so I can convert ALL my cd's to MP3 and store them. 400+ cds to ecode to MP3. Gonna be busy.

Here it is.

I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested.

Only ten hours of music on a cd in MP3 format? I would have thought it would be closer to 100 or more. By the way, why would you need a mp3 player for your favorite music...there cant be that many different versions of dueling banjos and recordings of some hillybilly blowing into a moonshine bottle, can there be? Sweet radio Rob

Oooooh, look at the pretty colors

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

Tony, I know where you live.

Mark, dont tell us about your fetish with the lead singer on the Backstreet Boyz.

Hell you get that many listening to everythign from rap (real rap, not that Eminem & wannabe gangsta crap ), classical, metal, alternative, country, big band, 80's, disco and 60's.D Plus buying 3-4 cds a week didnt help either.D

I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested.

Ok, I'm bastardizing, but I'm curious what kinda groups or artists you're referring to by that. Also, I'm no big Eminem fan or anything and I realize his image is crap nowadays, but man, if you listen to some of the live freestyles like the Rap Olympics and stuff like that, that guy was crazy. That's all, thanks!

Try going up to 192 on the bitrate...much more headroom, sounds a lot better. Aww shit, crank it up to 320, then your dog will really enjoy the sonic experience

How many country and western stations can it hold?

That's a nice unit dude. I've been itching for an mp3 cd player for my car, but no $$$. I have a lot of mp3's at 128kb/sec and the high end sounds a bit tinny. Cymbal crashes (drums) sound a bit, digitized..... 192 seems a lot nicer.

I use this program called Easy CD-DA extractor. It automatically titles the mp3 from a web database od cd albums (CDDB). All you have to set is bitrate and normalization level. Then just hit go and come back in a while. It still sucks if you have a lot of cd's but when you're done you have a sweet setup. I'm currently at about 600 mp3s and 3GB of space to keep em

Martin, as for the # of stations, 32FM and 16AM

Maks, rappers like Mix-a-lot, SugarHill Gang, Tribe Called Quest, Afrika Bambatta (always spell that wrong), Dr Dre, Snoop, NWA, Magic Mike and some more of the old school dudes.
