Bad Legislation in Springfield

House Bill 1469 to be voted on today could ban certain types of protective motorcycle gear.
HB1469 is a ban on "body armor" possession that passed a house committee yesterday & will be voted on today (2/28/18). In the State of Illinois, Kevlar lined motorcycle clothes (Jeans, hoodies, jackets) could be considered "body armor" under definitions in the law.
ABATE of Illinois is working to get an amendment to fix this problem, but we need your help. - Please take the time to make 2 phone calls today and help us.
Please call the bill sponsor Daniel Burke at (217) 782-1117. Politely let the secretary know that you are a Motorcyclist, and you don't want to see protective gear banned in Illinois. Let them know that you would like to see an amendment that excludes motorcycle clothing from this bill.

After calling Representative Burke, please call your representative. Let your Representative know HB1469 needs to be amended to exclude motorcycle clothing from the definition of "body armor".
Representative Burke has been a friend to ABATE. We believe that a solution can be reached, but because the bill is to be voted on today, we must make these calls today.

It is important to remind legislators that we are watching, and we won't accept bad legislation.

Amendments are being added to exempt motorcycle clothing, retired LEO's and other items. I'll get them soon and post them here.

Theres legitimate legal reasons to own body armor.
