Go to Event Viewer, and tell us what the red X errors say. Event Viewer is under Administrative Tools. Which should be in the Control Panel.

Hey Mike,

I'm certainly no pro, but if you want I can stop by Teusday night and try to clean up your pc best I know how. I can't make any promises, but I went through the same thing you did a little while ago and can try some of the things that fixed mine.

Let me know

Thanks Brian, Ill let you know

Over the weeknd I installed *STOPZILLA* and it seems to be running fine now. Ill give it a while and see what happens.

Whats interesting is that my brother had the same scary screen come up on his brand new DELL the same night. His is only about a week old. I was thinking a virus that went back and forth between us but verything seems oK for now

installing that kind of software is one thing, From the error message your getting I was wondering more if you were running it right. I'm pretty sure running it correctly should do the trick. You also have to make sure you have the right settings in your protection software. Besides that, your OS would make a difference. One of the reasons I finally upgrade to xp was because Win 98 was so unstable and did stupid things like you described.
