opinions needed, please.

My bike is still in Michigan and I would like to get it down here soon! I came across of 2 options to get it down here.

1: rent a car drive up there and ride the bike down
2: rent a trailor and tow it down.

Here is also some of my concerns:
1: 4 hrs on TLR isn't that much fun.
2: Girlfriend's disapprove ( I know this is weak, but she is important to me ) riding alone for so long on the highway.
3: WRX isn't really a good towing car
4: Must be cost effective, I don't really want to spend huge amount of money.

please give me some suggestions, or experiences of the same kind.
Thanx in advance.

The WRX should be a more than capable car for towing a bike, if I were you, I'd do that.

Time for a new girlfriend, ride it If she doesn't like it....tough, if she counters with the age old arguement "What if something happens?" your immediate response should be " Then it happens, I'll adapt and overcome" What that saying? "I refuse to tiptoe thru life, to arrive safely at death" Besides 4 hours isn't that bad

Yes I'm in a cranky moody, I have a pounding headache and this freaking cold

Sometimes goodbye is your second chance.

Wait for a nice day and RIDE the baby home!! Give yourself a full day to enjoy it.

2 reasons---

1. You will learn all the nuances about your new bike and love it more
2. Lotsa time to think, relax, take in the sights, and just be riding!
Stop for lunch and truly enjoy your day.

As far as trailering goes.....BE CAREFUL if you rent a Uhaul. I just did and it was TOTALLY safe and awesome. Your WRX would be fine. Downside is UHAUL does "NOT" allow you to take the trailer out of state without their knowledge. Its a $500. fine IF you get caught. Just make sure you grease the bearings REAL WELL and stop every hour or two to maybe put some in. Little tires on the trailer and you do NOT want to seize those suckers. Especially if you are out of state. If you are back in IL fry the cookies!

BTW --Trailer $15. (walk the bike up and walk the bike down. Very easy!) you will need 3 straps. Cinch starps work great but ratcheting also works good too.

Four hours on a Tiller ain't no big thang. You bought it to ride, right? No harm in bringing the GF along, either.

Man you gusy are brutal about the girlfriend's issue . Oh well, I guess I will end up riding it back. That was the original idea anyways. I have fart-can on my WRX and it won't clear the hatch.
Group ride sounds really cool, but one I get to Michigan, I will have to spend some time with "my girl" ( notice that there is one girl? ) I don't think anyone wants to wait for 3 days to ride it back.

I'm cheap...$15 dollars is 15 beers on a drink special night...Ride it back. Your woman's concerns are understood, but you have to lay down the rules now: You're gonna be doing dangerous things on the bike: That's just that. She has to get used to it. If you concede now, it won't end. No road trips? No days spent on the bike? She knew she was dating a biker when she got into this...Ride it back, save some money, and set an important precedent NOW...but be nice and tell her you appreciate her caring about ya!
