Real Estate Lawyer Needed!!!

I'm sellign my property and starting ot get offers. I need ot hire a lawyer for the closing process. I got F***** OVER by the scum bag lawyer I was recommended to use last time (by a certain CLSB member's ex-g/f). I paid at least $1000 in fees that should have been paid by the seller. :angry

So, I looking for someone resonably priced (it's only a $120k property) but trustworthy (for a lawyer). Does anyone have a person they've worked with in the SW suburbs???

Ken? Tony?

If you want Cherry i can recommend a hell of a "family" real estate lawyer. He did my house, my brothers, and many of my wife's family members. Let me know. His name is Terry Zimmer but i can send you more info if need be.

Yes, if both of you could send some info, I'll look into each and pick one. I'm leaning towards Labdog, because his references are better. You don't mess with family!

I kind of want someone out of my local area a little so hopefully the lawyers aren't best buddies. I might even let the new lawyer review my previous closing. Maybe he can file a complaint against the IL Bar Assoc., if there is enough evidence of improper representation.

I especially want to use a neutral title company. Both of the lawyers before were WAYYY too chummy with the title lady on my last closing. I hate how the real estate industry is such a big racket between lawyers, title companies, mortgage lenders and RE agents. Why can't people just be objective professionals and do their F***ing job!

I fired my real estate lawyer the night before we closed on our house! The guy was an idiot and he pissed me off!

Jeff Cleary in Schaumburg, IL is good. He teaches at Roosevelt and is a nice guy. A little different, but he does a good job.

I'll probably check out Kelly's suggesting first. Hopefully his rates are reasonable.

BTW - I did already accept an offer from a buyer this weekend. It's about what I hoped I could get. Unfortunately I've only lived there a year, so I'll walk away with some cash in hand after closing costs, but I'll lose all the money I put into it. Oh well. Lesson learned. At least I won't have a mortgage over my head anymore.

My cousin's husband has an office in Roselle. His name is Steve Dallas. VERY trustworthy; in fact, too nice to be a lawyer.

Mike,

To make money on real estate, on average (old stat here) you have to hold the property for ten years. In the early 80's I bought one place for 129K and 18 months later I sold for 288K, that rarely happens. The place I have in Barrington I bought 11 years ago for 169K, now worth 750K and rising, but I have a ton of sweat equity in it. As always its location location location, and always buy the little dump on or near a great area. Are you paying someone elses mortgage now? That's what renting is bro

You still need a place.

Rick
