Since my wife doesn't work there anymore....bad vet!!!

Some of you know Anne used to work at Animal Care Center in Plainfield. Some of you have taken your animals there, but I always made sure Anne steered you toward the right doctors so you got good service, in most cases. Let me tell you there are very few good vets there.

Anyway, right before Anne was released she took Skyy (1 1/2 year old lab) in because she had some skin irritation issues. The doctor told her she didn't know what it was and we'd have to see a dermatologist. For kicks Anne took Skyy for a second opinion.

Turns out Skyy has allergies. The second doctor figured it out right away and gave us something to fix her up.

I'm baffled at the fact that Animal Care Center Doctor wasn't able to even to diagnose something sooooooo common as Allergies.

Those guys really suck over there.

It wasn't illegal. She had to pass a message between a doctor and a customer. End result of the message was the death of a dog. The person is suing the clinic and they were trying to hang Anne out to dry for being the messanger. They wanted her to write a letter apologizing and admitted full and complete personal guilt for what happened. She refused to write the letter for fear she would be implicated in the lawsuit and because it was the doctors medical advice that was responsible(she was only a messanger), and they fired her.

Huh?

When you say "They wanted her to write..." are you referring to the customer or the Dr./hospital? It sounds like the hospital.

Why would Anne not want to be the messenger....she did nothing wrong and was only relaying a message. An condolensces letter might help, but taking responsibility?

Im confused.

then you need to read more bro...lol

they pinned the death of the dog on her, and wanted her to take the fall on the dog dieing for simple telling the customer what the doctor said, but it all factiods...the customer had a choice to get the dog attention right there and then, just at a higher rate of emergency care price..which sounds like the guy left..so thats his choice, and really he is to blam if you ask me, but those fucken employeers were wrong in what they did and how they handled it with her....simple wrong!

there's a reason you're confused....it made no sense. She would have written a letter of condolence TO THE CUSTOMER, but they wanted her to take responsibility. Your right, it was not her fault. The doctor even assumed responsibility for what happened. It still wasn't good enough. The owner told the customer he would get Anne to write the letter without asking Anne first. We told him if it was going to be more than a condolence letter we needed him to put in writing exactly what he wanted so we could seek legal council. He refused to do that.

If we are talking about vets then stay away from the one on Plainfield Rd. East of Cass, I think it’s Westmont. It’s a private house turned to a vet office on the North side of Plainfield Rd., there is dog statue outside in the front yard.

I almost sued that place years ago. I had a cat, took him there a few times, he was sick but they never found out what it was, they did plenty of tests. I paid a sh*t load of money for them. In the end they told me “ah, he’s a Siamese, they are always sick” so I stopped trying to figure it out.

A year later I got a second Siamese kitty and then shortly I moved to Elmhurst where I took my cats to the vet on Lake St East of RT83.

That vet ran some test on my cat, and within 2 days had results, Corona virus, very contagious, my new kitty got the disease from my sick cat but was not showing any symptoms yet. There is a vaccine for this if caught early. Two years later I had to put the orginal cat, only 4 years old at the time, to sleep, my other cat still has the disease but he got vaccinated shortly after he contracted it, he will live a few more years, maybe the rest of his life almost normal with very little discomfort.

I was shocked when I found this out. They could have done something, I told them to run ALL the tests, apparently they didn’t and as the result, my first cat had to suffer and had to be put to sleep and my second cat got the disease also.

Brian, you and I talked about what Im looking for because of special needs that hunting dogs have.

Can anyone just call and get the records of your pet sent to you or pick them up or are they property of the animal care center?

I'm pretty sure those records are yours. So either way. You can have them transfered or sign them out yourself. Anne signed ours out.

Brian,

You may want to consider having a lawyer on stand-by. If the clinic is going to try to paint Anne as the scapegoat now, they may also try to do so if the customer sues the clinic. People sue anybody over anything nowadays and always try to deflect the blame to someone else.

Unfortunately your right

I'm hoping to God that it doesn't get to that. That would absolutely destroy us.

Yu may want to call your homeowners insurance company and look into an umbrella policy. I guess it is some sort of policy that covers you if someone sues you for something.

Yeah, you should have some personal liability in your homeowners. I don't know if it will cover a suit from work.

I don't see how there's a basis for a personal suit against you personally rather than the business (and even that's questionable).

It certainly doesn't hurt to be prepared.
