Tennis anyone?

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in playing tennis on a regualr basis once the weather gets consistently warmer.

I'm trying to find people to play with in the city (can go to suburbs during the weekends). I'd rate myself between 4 and 4.5 on rating scale. Thanks.

I'm your man. My sister and I play in the summer months downtown at the Lakeshore Althetic Club, the one on or near Southport and Fullerton. We are always looking for partners to play with. It would either be me for singles or my sister and me for doubles. If you pass my tests and get my approval, then you can play singles with my sister. Seriously, I'll play and if you want to do doubles, my sister and her guy friend could meet up.

Sounds great! I'm a member at the LAC in Downtown but I can get into the one by Southport & Fullerton. A co-worker of mine is interested in playing as well and she's also a member at LAC.

Do you guys want to play sometime this week? How do I pass your test?

This week I am working 12pm to 10pm Monday 5/3 to Monday 5/10. This week I can't do it. But, after Mother's Day, mine and my sister's schedules are wide open. Are the week nights or weekends better for you? Either week nights or weekends are fine with us.

7 PM or later will work for me on weekdays. Anytime will work for me on weekends. Why don't we should shoot for 7 PM next Tuesday (05/11)? We can meet at LAC at that time or whatever time will be convenient for you.

Ok, sounds good. Did you want to do singles or doubles? If doubles, let me check that date with my sis, before I confirm.

I think we may have to play singles for the first week or two because my co-worker can't make it before then.

Whiteseat & Taxman,

I'm definitely up for playing some tennis this summer. I've played the last two summers in the USTA summer league (Score Tennis Club in LaGrange) but took the winter off so I'm a bit rusty but can definitely do some leisure play. I'm not a member at LAC but am open for suggestions (there are also some decent courts around like at Whitney Young High School in the West Loop Gate area). And I live near Greek Town and am usually fairly available during the weekdays after 6:30 and weekends are negotiable.

Let me know?

Hans

Solo, I took lessons with Tom Kotsakis over there at Score back in the late 80s early 90s. Anytime you wanna play bro, just shoot me an PM.

Taxman, 5/11 sounds fine. Let's make it 7:30 pm, traffic is a b*tch. If we play at LAC, here is the catch...I don't have a membership there, my sister has the membership and I would just pay the guest fee. So, if you want to play elsewhere let me know.

I don't know Tom....I just hooked up with those guys at Score a couple of years ago. I never joined the club just the traveling team (b/c I can't stand Mid-town tennis club and ending up whooping up on them during the season ). I think Tim Dent is coaching the men's team there now. I played at Woodfield Racquet Club in High School (and obviously was never good enough to play at North Carolina). Now, I'm just an old guy trying to place his shots

Nonetheless, it's all good man. We'll definitely have to get together on this. I'll shoot you a PM or vice versa as appropriate.

Haven't had a chance to sling shot the racquet bag over the shoulder while riding the bike...is it doable (on a 3 racquet bag)?

I've actually ridden down town with my racquet in my backpack. With the handle sticking out it looks like I'm driving around with a sword. All the cops gave a second look. Three racquets may be a little more difficult.

I have a couple of guest passes to LAC, I'll use one and I'll give the other one to you. We still have to pay for court time I think. 7:30 PM on Tuesday sounds good. Also, let me check out the courts by Grant Park to see if they have lights before then to see if we can play there. I'll PM you my email and cell #.

Solo, may be we all should get a free outdoor court in the burbs on a weekend. I have played on one in Naperville/Aurora which is good and one in Buffalo Grove. As far skill level, I think you guys are going to level me down.

The free court in the burbs sounds like a great idea. I haven't played all winter, so no worries about level of play. I'm nothing to shout about. TaxMan, let's get in touch and finalized our plans.

Sounds good. But there are still a lot of good free courts in the city (Whitney Young High School, Grant Park/Columbus, Grant Park/Park District in Grant Park..small fee and they also have clay courts too, Dearborn Park, etc.) Trust me, I know where all the free outdoor courts are in the downtowny area Whatever is convenient for everyone is cool with me. And trust me, I'm just out to have fun....not trying towin any tourneys here.
Let's try to set something up!

Hans
