I'm just going to spend the day with my Mom. Grab something to eat and get her some Flowers or something. She can buy anything she wants anyway, so just spending time with her is all that matters

I call my mom and stepmom on mother's day. Sent the cards this week. They live out on the west coast so I don't run out there to visit them. I've heard mom sing. Best if she sticks to the cooking

I think next year I'll do some research, try and find a local day spa for some pampering. Being so far away, it's tough to find one close to them. I've got a couple sisters out there though, so I'll use them..

There's a flip bakery/store on Dempster and a little west of Harlem in Niles/Morton Grove. It's by the Lonestar and the carwash on the south side of Dempster!

Good luck!!!

my mom's in florida with her mom who is, for the most part, dying rather slowly and painfully. I have exams this week. we were all supposed to go to switzerland next week, but that looks as if it's on hold. I sent them both cards and I have been calling every day.
I'm just going to have to wait to see what sunday brings before I send anything down to my mom.

My mother and I havent talked in 3 years. Nothing

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

My mom never buys anything, goes anywhere, or does much so I never know what to get her. Her hobbies include yelling at me, yelling at my brother, and yelling at my stepdad...so I think I'll get her a megaphone so she doesn't wear herself out.

I used to get her clothes, but she wouldn't wear the stuff I'd buy her. I used to get her gift certificates, and she would never redeem them (see first paragraph). So I started getting her cartons of cigarettes for mother's day, and that's been the only gift she's ever used!

Sorry. I'll save it for my therapist.

My dad and I didn't talk for ten years, so I know how you feel bro. Sorry. Don't mean to make this the "tell us about your dysfunctional family" thread.

Now you guys know why I'm the way I am!

That's awesome Isis! Taking my Mom out to lunch, flowers and a card. She's real easy to buy for, she has expensive taste!

You guys are all lucky that your moms are still alive.

I hope even those of you who don't have the best relationship with your moms will find some small way to honor the women without whom you would not be here.

How would you feel if your kid forgot about you on mothers or fathers day?

My mom is like a chocolate connesuir, so I went to the confectionary in Long Grove and got her a box of handmade truffles of various flavours. Plus I'll take her out to breakfast on Sunday.
