Bike Friendly Route to Soldier Field

I am going to Soldier field this saturday to do a Chrysler test drive thing. I want to ride there but am not comfortable on the highways yet. I was thinking about taking Dempster into Evanston and riding sheridan all the way down to LSD then LSD to Soldier field. Sound like a good plan?

If you are not comfortable on the highway, LSD is not for you. Neither is Sheridan, depending on how traffic is.

Sounds good to me. Make sure you make that left at Devon to stay on Sheridan rd. and then another left on Hollywood to get on to LSD. "but you know that already wright?"

Sounds like a plan, but if you can handle LSD from North to South, you should be fine on the expressway. LSD is a dangerous rode.

EDIT Oops, ya beat me Dr. D

I am not scared of the speeds on the highway, I am scared of windblasts from truckers and the trucks themselves. I have driven the route in the cage a number of times before but wasn't sure how bike freindly it was.

That route is anything but bike friendly. Lots of blind curves, hidden driveways, crazy ass intersections, lots of J-walking pedestrians, parked cars, stopped cars, taxis, POTHOLES up the ass, lions and tigers and bears Oh My!

If your scared about the wind blasts, then you should take Clark st. all the way down to Rosevelt rd and cut over to Soldier field. Clark st is shielded pretty much by the buildings on both sides of the rode.

I think it's illegal for trucks to be on LSD.

youre going to take advice from a guy that is nicknamed CRASH

Juuust kiddin....

LSD does roll pretty good with lots of potholes and people that are not biker friendly...so its up to you, but you dont have many choices....unless you stoplight to stoplight it all the wya down, and thats just not worth it....

Theres nothin like baptism by fire theres a big ride that has thousands of bikers that start somewhere up north, take 90 into 94, through the city (that real fun part) out on 290, back up 290 to the meeting spot..i cant remember what the ride was, but it was ridiculous, and totally disorganized...that was my wifes 2nd time on the highway LOL....

Be Defensive, just dont be stupid....always figure some trixie is about to take you out at any given moment, you should be fine

It is illegal for trucks, (or any trailers) to be on LSD. If I were you MM, I'd leave early and take backstreets all the way in. Sheridan is lame, and LSD heading South is a nightmare. I took it home on Tuesday night, and the frost heave/tar jumps are sick this year.

On more than one occasion (at the speed limit) I had both tires very unintentionally off the ground. No fun til you get South of Belmont.

A casual cruise down the backstreets would be much relaxed than "hurrying up" your confidence on the highway.

I couldn't think of a better screen name. I got that from the movie Hackers.

Would Trixie be driving a VW?

I'm not scared of the speed, its just the sudden stops

How does that saying go?
