Pocket Bikes

Does anyone here own a pocket bike?

I've seen a ton of them on Ebay in the $300 range and wondering if these are cool toys or garbage.

Bandit 66, FYR - If they are anything like or similar to ones advertised over at Pepboys for $399- After checking them out, looks like you get what you pay for. I stopped at a couple stores. At one store, a kid was dragging one in and was exchanging it after just a day because the bearings fried. Next store I went to was told they recalled a bunch for defects. I said screw it, and chose to wait & save a little more to get my son something better.

I bought one of them pepboys bikes and Have gone 3 or 4 tankfulls. You are supposed to go 30 miles per tank. I think the reason people are going through bearings is because the instructions you get with them are all wrong. I was utterly confused and called tech support. The direction point to filling one reservoir with 35 weight oil. There are actually 2 things to fill. the inner reservoir gets filled with 2-stroke trans oil and the outer gets filled with motorcycle gear oil. Both of these are 85 weight. They are pretty cool to drive and was planning on bringing mine to strats for bike night because I am gonna cage it so I can bring my 5 yr old. If I do I'll let anyone take it for a spin.

I'm believer in "You get what you pay for." Having raced those little monsters, I'd say wait and get something decent, and repairable with parts support. If getting it to goof around on, then one of the $300 knock-offs would be OK to beat on 'til it dies.
Funny how some others I've talked to seem like the ones who gripe about the cheapness of Handy stands and Pitbull's are the only thing to own, but think spending $800 on a pocketbike is retarded. To each his own.

Life has no instruction manual. Parts and labor can be impossible to find. Many go down the road with parts that are in need of service. A breakdown is eventual.

The pepboys bikes are suppsed to have parts through the pepboys parts counter.

They got it from me, and I assure you it does great crossed-up corner exit wheelies Or so I heard.
That is a GRC GP, 6.5hp, water cooled, around $2000.
