Window tint

I want to tint the windows on my '02 passat and I was wondering what is the maximum % you are allowed to have in illinois. Also any recommendations of good place to have it done at in or around Arlington Heights?

2 rear sides and the back you can go as dark as you want but the driver and passenger has to be VER VERY light if ANY at all. I got nailed and so have many others!!

Use the yellow pages or do it yourself. Its really easy.

It is illegal to have any kind of tint done on the front passenger or front driver side windows. Any other window you can spray paint black if you want. Doesn't mean you can't do it just don't go to dark. I have my side windows on my Hemi tinted and have not been hassseled by the MAN. Yet.

Like people have said - anything on the fronts isn't legal - BUT a shop will still do it for you if you want. As far as being hasseled - it's going to depend on some things. Like - what kind of car do you drive? How you drive (wreckless, fast driving & a sporty car will obviously draw more attention)..

My friend had dark tint on his Z28 and got bugged all the time. The cops never gave him a ticket until just last summer. He had it removed, took photos, then had lighter tint installed.

This was reeeeally light. Got pulled over for it and the next day drove right to the police station in Mundelein to ask an officer if he would have pulled him over. The cop looked right at him and said, "There's tint on there?? Whoever pulled you over must have been an a$$hole!"

I've been wanting to get my windows tinted on my Maxima just to keep the interior cooler (black leather). If I do it, I'd get the fronts done anyway just because it'd look dumb w/ nothing on 'em...just not as dark.
