Mechanical Engineering Internship's?

I know a lot of the people on this board are engineers and I am curious if anyone has the hookups for an internship or part time job. Let me know, I am a senior at UIC with a 4.0/5.0 GPA. The job I have now is okay and has given me lots of experiance in the industrial machine deisgn area but they have poor money handling skills and at times I wait weeks for paychecks.

This board is great.

good luck. I searched for months and found nothing. use the career center at school; that's my best advice. but keep asking around-- timing is a funny thing and you never know...

Talk to Grover. He has a degree in Mech Eng. and works for some part company.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

Hit the career center. Honestly, you should have been doing this months ago. I'd hit up some headhunters to see what's out there. They've got connections everywhere. Hit Hotjobs, career builder websites since the headhunters advertise a lot on those. I couldn't land an internship during college, and that was back in the booming late 90's.

My company doesn't really do much with interns. I can check, but nobody has posted anything. We tend to use co-ops instead, mainly because they come back every couple months. And it's in Racine, out of the commuting distance for Des Plaines.

I have had a position as a Mechanical Designer for 2 years now but with the market slow down not many people are ordering $100K tube notchers. It was not till a week ago that I learned about my hours possibly being cut. I use the Co-op/intern words interchangibly. Basically I want a job that pays decent and will give me experiance with a flexiable schedule. I know everyones dream.

Thanks any who Grover
