My Friend Crashed Pretty Bad

My friend works for an IRL (Indy Race League) team, it's called Rahal, Letterman racing. He's a Mechanic. He's been down in Indy for the last week or so setting up and testing and tuning for the Indy 500.

Well last night he was blasting down 465 by Indy riding over his head doing over 100mph I'm sure. He hasn't been riding that long and every time I ride with him I can tell he doesn't have much skill. He has a Gixxer 600.

Well, he clipped a van swerving through traffic at over 100mph. I just talked to him, he's in the Hospital now.

I guess he got into tank slapper after he hit the van and the bike and him tumbled several times. He's OK, he was wearing his Lid. He has a broken arm and a whole shit load of road rash.

Ride safe guys and don't ride over your head.

He said he was chasing some other guy on a bike he didn't know.

He has no insurance on his bike

GOD DAMN IT!!!!

No offense, but it is people like your friend that make others hate motorcycles and those who ride them.

Yea, no shit! And the fucked up part about it is, I tried to help him, i tried to tell him that he's riding over his head. He would just give me a look like he knows everything to know about riding and it could never happen to him.

Serveral times riding with him he would always want to swerve through traffic and cut people off. I tried to tell him that pisses people off and to chill out man. Some asshole is going to run you over or swerve in your way.

We're all guilty of it one time or another though.

He didn't want to hear it and he got what was coming to him. I'm just glad he's not dead and just has a broken arm and some road rash.

May be, just may be he learned his lesson.

Obviously God was watching over him because a crash at 100mph plus down a busy interstate sounds like death to me!

Good luck to your friend. Don't know what's gonna hurt worse, the rash or no insurance on a total'd bike.

Well, maybe he'll learn something from this.

I dunno, but I'd think somebody involved in racing would understand that public highways are no place for that kind of speed.

Does he still have a job, or is his situation going to continue to suck worse?

Well he sure as hell can't go to work and be active in the pits with a broken arm. His situation could get alot worse before it gets any better.

Sorry to hear about your friend. Shitty situation, he brought it upon himself though so, whatever.

On a side note, we should all be happy that our insurance premiums won't be paying for this bike!

I'm not sure, I was thinking the same thing. Thats bad isn't it? He's all hemmed up in the hospital and we want to snake his bike out from under him while he can't do anything about it. My buddy and I were already talking about trying to get the bike.

I'm going to hold off for a day or 2 but I want to get my hands on it if its not too bad. Its impounded in Indy rite now. I'll see what I can do.

This is so terrible! All of a sudden I'm not too concerned with him, I'm more concerned about the bike.

I'm SOOOO Sick in the head!

He's lucky to only have some rash and a broken arm! Sometimes you just have to pick your battles. All you can do is try. When someone refuses to hear, there's only so much you can do short of knocking them unconscious.

He got his wakeup call! He's probably not going to be much help to the Rahal team with Indy a week away!
