not so sure about this...they may be in the market too late....they're only going to survive by reallocating revenue from the suckers still paying for their suckass cable services

as it is they're going to struggle for a long time to catchup to what DirecTV and Dish Network already offer for HD programming in addition to the normal channels (which are already better than cable crapola)

I'm sticking with Directv for now. Voom doesnt reallyhave that much more in true HD.

I have:

Via Directv:
Discovery HD
HdNet
HDnet movies
HBOHD
ShotimeHD
ESPNHD

Via Regular Antenna:
CBSHD
WGNHD
NBCHD
WLSHD
WTTWHD
FoxHD
and like 6 channels of channel 38 which I think is pax

I could go with Voom but at this point I didnt see it being worth the trouble of switching. Sure they have a few more channels, but those channels are nothing I really got excited about. So its not that Voom is a bad system. I just didnt see upgrading being worth it especially since I already have over a grand worth of directv equipment.

yeah I know...Voom is a new satellite venture...owned by Cablevision

basically they never thought that satellite tv would offer as much competition to cable as it currently does...so they're scrambling and diversifying now trying to play catchup to Dish and DirecTV

over the last decade, Dish & DirecTV have invested heavily to launch their own satellites or acquire assets from other companies that have gone under to establish a pretty good North America infrastructure.

Dish & DirecTV were fighting over orbital slots a few years ago. I wonder how this johnny-come-lately is going to fare

I would put 50 bucks on Directv buying them within a year. They are running out of bandwidth and are going to be looking for a solution to bring more HD stuff to the market.

well thanks for the info guys, i think i will still have them, install the stuff, still keep the directv stuff around, and IF they go belly up ill go directv HDTV, untill then ill have a ton of true and hdtv format channels all digital.

i cant complain for 90 bucks i get all the movie channel, all the HDTV channels and local and bla bla bla...seems like a good deal for now, and i dont have to buy nothing, its only 9.50 a month for the equipment also no contract, no nothing.

so i hope its cracked up to what they said is was at the eletronics show.

35 channles in HD? What channles are HD, I though there were only 13 true HD channles out there(Last I heard). The stations have to broadcast HD for us to receve HD.
