While I think that this is a great initiative, I don't think they'll be able to catch me if I decide to run

One of them little bastids passed me on the way to St. Louis a couple weeks ago. I was doing 80 so I cranked on the throttle to see how fast he was going. He was cruising at just over 90. I was impressed.

Is that an electric car? I've heard those electric cars have awesome 0-60 and 1/4 mile times because you don't have to shift, I've heard they are very fast.

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

GM's electric from a few years ago, I dont know if they still make it,it was west coast only, was faster in the quarter than the Camaro Z28 and slightly slower than the 'vette but was topped out at that distance.

Style is the excuse used by those who have neither the nerve or the intelligence to live their own lives.

It's about as quick and fast as a Toyota Corolla. It's good for a 9-10 second 0-60 and around 110mph. Plenty fast for city chases.

Besides...the radio waves at the speed of light! ... and helicopters are good for at least 150.

actually there was a bunch of video's of Electric dedicated cars lying around and they flat out flew, beating ferrari's and Corvettes in the quarter mile. Low weight, 100% torque 100% of the time. The Hybrids (like the Prius above) are more comparable to standard econo boxes in terms of performance

turn the bars left and go right; that just isn't right

GM did have a huge electric car program, but it didn't get too popular and dropped the car.

If anyone has the car, it is probably considered a collectible. I wish i still had the article about GM. But they still had hundreds of electric cars they were gonna sell, however, i think they were scrapping all of them. And I'm not sure how many they had sold to the general public.

GMs going to be coming out with the hydrogen car in 3 years I believe, but the car is a lot more futeristic looking.

Fuck yea, there was an electric car on TLC running sub 4 sec 0-60. If somebody could figure out how to recharge the batteries a lot faster and increase the range a lot, there would definitely be a market for them.

That car is actually considered a hybrid. It has a regular gasoline engine w/ electric assist. At slow speeds (up to 30 or so) it's using only the electric. The gas engine turns on automatically to help. ...or something along those lines. Click HERE to see how it works if you really care.

The gas engine in turn also recharges the electric portion, so you never have to plug the car into the wall (it's not even an option to do so).

It's a good idea because it sips gas, and you won't get stranded when your batteries die.

Not at 90 they don't. Buying one of those then cruising at that speed is just another form of posing.

edit - or I s'pose maybe he was just on a fock of a hurry - benefit of the doubt and all that.

It just does that

"The EPA rates the Prius at 52 mpg in the city and 45 mpg on the highway" not quite 60
