Poker

Anyone watch the Binnions World series of poker on ESPN? It seems like it is always on. I understand most of it but can't figure out what the small and large blinds mean. I know it is to ensure play in every hand but how does it work?

The blinds are put in by the two players to the left of the dealer just to ensure play, like you said. If a new player sits down to the game, they have to either wait 'til the big blind gets to them or post a bet equal to the big blind. I think that's about it?

the two players left of the dealer put in a ante! The small blind is half of the normal bet, the big blind is the full ante. In order to play the hand (or see the flop) you have to bet at least the big blind, so if you are the big blind and there are no raises you get to see the flop. Basically everybody in the card game gets to see there two 'down' cards without paying anything, except those two people that have to pay the little and big blinds. It's a Texas Hold'em's version of an ante.

does that answer your question?

turn the bars left and go right; that just isn't right
