Can we start using our horns?

I know there are a lot of stupid people out there and bad drivers, but why are the other motorist so lenient toward them? Why are we excusing them, ignoring them, not letting them know how we feel about their driving? I hardly ever hear people honking.

Today on my way to work, there was a minivan in the right turn “only” lane. This road leads to my work’s parking lot. The light was red for all the other lanes in that direction, except the right turn only lane, which had a green arrow.

I turned in to the right only turn lane when I saw a car in front of me and this minivan sitting in the right only turn lane with it’s left blinker on

Now, I’m courteous, If I made a mistake and pulled in to the wrong lane by mistake and there were other cars around me, I would just turn right and turn around somewhere (there is plenty of parking lots on each side at this intersection, plus you can pull a U-turn also) and allow the cars behind me to go, instead of just sitting there, blocking the lane, inconveniencing everyone

So being that I was already running late this morning, I got on the horn, hoping that the minivan would look in the rearview mirror, notice that there are two cars behind him/her and just make a right turn. NO. Not only did the stupid person sit there but then they cut in front of the cars that were going straight. So I laid on the horn for that too, three times in all. Not the kind of honk that you do when someone is not paying attention when the light turns green a short beep beep (hey, wake up buddy honk) no this was a beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep, flock you - you flocking flock beep, long and loud and angry, make no mistake, you are a moron and I’m letting you know this honk.

My philosophy is this, some drivers are so dumb, they won’t really care if someone is honking at them, but some may have a brain cell or two, so maybe honking at these individuals a few times, will make them think twice about making stupid moves like that.

Why should someone’s mistake inconvenience other motorists and backup traffic?

Why do we tolerate that in this county?

Are we allowing bad drivers to stay bad drivers by not honking at them, and letting them know they are not driving properly?

In South America/Europe, that wouldn’t happen, but if it did, all the cars would be honking until that person would make a right turn and get out of the way.

Let’s start honking people, who is with me?

I wore out my horn this morning on my way in Gravel truck making a left turn from center lane. Everyone else could get through but I couldnt because I had my trailer behind me *generalization coming up*>>>>>> The guys that drive gravel trucks are idiots and all think they are driving a F1 car

No, out there, they drive even worse! CRAZY!!!

I always honk at these idiots. Let 'em know I'm pissed. I used to roll down the window, yell and flick them off, but I got chased once so I just stick to honking.

I just get out the car and break the driver's side window. As for honking, i honestly hate it. I hardly honk, and if i did, it would have to be a for a very big reason. I had a close call once on i-94. I was going about 70-75, and the far left lane was blocked off with cones. So, this moron in a Chevy Corsica who's on the far left lane decides to brake to a dead stop, then merge into the middle lane. (The lane that im on) Well, the idiot goes for it and i was approaching fast, and if i broke i sure would have slammed into this slapdick, and my reaction was to honk, but at the same time if i would have honked, i wouldn't have enough time to dodge this asshole, so end up getting sandwiched between the Corsica and a semi. Thank God the semi saw me and went on the shoulder. Bottom line is, if i honked, i woulda crashed, plain and simple.

Seriously though, people that honk at other people's stupidity are just slightly less annoying than the idiots they're honking at. We all know the majority of the population is way too stupid to operate a vehicle effectively. They prove it all the time. If you can't learn to relax, turn up the radio, and deal with it like a normal human being... then you shouldn't be on the road either.

Keep honking, im reloading.

I dont honk much either unless someone cuts me off or someone is not paying attention to green light or something. I lived downtown long enough to want to kill every arrogant asshole who though it was a good idea to use their horns for everything. I dont know how many times i saw someone waiting to turn right or left because there were pedestrians crossing the street and sure enough theres some asshat three cars back laying on his horn cuz he doesnt see there are people in the street.

How about just relaxing?

in Europe.. i know Germany for sure, drivers have this thing for each other that we don't have here... RESPECT... there was a program on Discovery a while back about the AutoBahn, and how it works so well over there.. Then they had some Americans and Germans on and they all agreed it would never work, because Americans have no respect for others on the road, exsample: your doing over the speed limit in the left hand lane.. in Germany, someone in the left lane will get outta your way... here, nope.. they are gonna sit there and not let you pass them, because its their lane dammit!

Anna...please don't honk in my town I know you cut through Lombard.

Honking doesn't solve anything....I only honk when they do something dangerous.

When they do something stupid, I usually just get in front of them, block them in, or catch them at the next late and give them a piece of my mind.

Be careful out there though, someone will run you off the road or worse for a harmless honk.

Hmm, I don't think I care that much to honk unless someone is just plain looking down at the light or backing into me. Otherwise if some bumbass is stuck in the middle of the road or there's kids who won't get outta the way, then I don't really care. If I think about it. I'd say that I witness something stupid about once every week where I could honk, but then I think about it and realize that the 10 seconds that I'm delayed doesn't mean much. I think bad drivers don't realize they're bad drivers even if you tell them. Tendancy is to get defensive anyway...here's an example.

Person A: You're a shitty driver because you did this and that.
Person B: No you're just an impatient prick.

See? That didn't really accomplish anything, but I'll bet that both people are now really pissed at each other. So I just shrug my shoulders and continue on. Sure I'll sometimes salute them as I pass, but I don't even care about that half the time. I'd rather them not have a clue and just get pulled over. That's what the cops are there for anyway, right? Let them pull them over and ask "why were you driving 35 in a 50?" "Why couldn't you just turn right and then turn around in the parking lot instead of bothering everyone else?" So if it's a 5 second delay to work, then I simply consider that it's 5 seconds less that I have to be at the office. It's almost like they're doing me a service.

ROFLMAO!! Also, when you honk (Especially with old folks) you end up scaring them and they end up doing something worse. (From my experiences) Plus, i drive a rice cooker, so when they hear the noise coming from my watermelon shooter they move outta the fackin' way.

Here's one thing that pisses me off. When you drive through a rich (usually) neighborhood I always get some shipdit that I can see mouthing "sloooow dooooown". Now the last several times this happened I was going 30 in a 25 with no one else around but this assclown which I would veer way off to go around them. The last time this happened it was a whole family waiting to cross the street. I could see the dad lift his hands up in the air and make the numbers 2 and 5. He then started yelling, mouthing, or whatever "twenty five". I peeked down at my speedo and it said 28. Now shit, there's a radar guy right there. I think people pull a dipshit when they see me because my exhaust is a bit louder on the bike and same on the car (350z) when I'm driving it in a lower gear. I think that the louder something sounds, the faster it appears. So all those people that tell me to slow down can go slowly off a cliff.

And I'm willing to bet, that at least half of the times that I've gotten the signal to slow down (about 4 times total)...that it's a classic case if NIMBY. I'm gonna put a stake down that says 2 out of the 4 if not all of them...speed themselves. But now that they're actually walking the street, everyone should slow down. Like I've said in other posts, there's a time and place where it's not necessarily legal to speed, but where it's not as bad. And I think about 99% of the people on this board know those places and especially know to slow down in slow residential or crowded zones. So unless you're pulling out a radar gun to calculate my speed...here's an idea for all the asswipes that think I and I'm sure, many other motorists are speeding. Why don't ya'll get bent and go get me a sandwich while you're walking around.
