Chinatown at CedarPoint? Or Chinatown at Great America?

Chinatown here in Chicago isn't even close to Chinatown in New York. Sure it'd be cool to check it out, but don't expect too much. The areas around Chinatown are bad. Make sure you know where you are going and go during the day.

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

Depends on what she wants to go there for. Food's ok. Shopping is a'ight. Parking can be a little tricky on the weekend.

Chinatowns about two blocks long, good restaraunts, touristy shopping an interesting side trip but not really a destination. You can see the "Backdraft" fire house...

Area's fine, night or day. Don't believe the burb boy's, they're scared anywhere east of Cicero ave.

Style is the excuse used by those who have neither the nerve or the intelligence to live their own lives.

Dat cracks me up over here 2 1/2 blocks East of Broadway/Halstead in Uptown. . . .

Thanks for the heads up on Chinatown, was curious about that. How about suggestions on restraunts serving Ugandan/Sudanese/Kenyan or Somali food? I tried some Nigerian around the corner and it wasn't anything like what I remember from East Africa.

If you go to China town a must stop is Joy Yee's Restaurant you may have to wait awhile but the food and the frozen drinks are awesome... Ya its not that big but there are some nice shops, bakeries, and restaurants...

about 2-3 blocks away there are projects but nothing to worry about and there is alot of popos in the area so if you park on the street make sure you pay the meters...

Chinatown used to be a place for ricers and sometimes bikers. It was pretty fun to hang out on Friday or Saturdays and watch all the crazy behavior and check out the cars.. Unfortunatly, I think a new police station was built near by and police are out in force now. It used to be streets lined up and parking lots filled at 12:30am.. as soon as the cop on the road would turn the corner and be out of sight someone would be doing a wheelie, burnouts in cars, bouncing hydros.. damn I miss the way it used to be. Nobody ever had fights or anything out there either, it was nice.

Now that the automotive part of Chinatown is mainly dead, I wouldn't go back. Nothing too great IMO.
