Won 2 airline tickets... where should I go?

I won 2 round trip tickets on United last night at an office dinner (its cool working for Orbitz) to anywhere in the lower 48 states. I want to take my girlfriend somewhere cool for a vacation, about a week long, but we don't know where to go.

I'm open to suggestions.

EDIT: I have to use them before December 17th, 2004.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

I would HIGHLY recommend a flight to San Fransissyco in Cali. Rent a convertible and drive to San Diego hitting all the BEST stops along the way! Fly out of LA.

We did this a couple years back and i must say it was one of THE BEST VACATIONS we have had. Very cheap as well.

Portland. Denver. Seattle. Northern Cali (wine country).

You can't fail in the mountains. Northeast has its charm as well. Maine, New Hampshire etc.

Yeah, right now I'm leaning toward flying into San Francisco, spending a day or two in the city, then driving out to Yosemite. But I want to go through Napa Valley. Then maybe up to Tahoe for a day or two, then back to SFO.

You work for Orbitz and asking someone where to go?

I think people should ask you where to go instead.

Seattle. I love the upper Northwest. Beautiful mountains. Rent a car and then go about an hour north into Vancouver Canada. Vancouver is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen.

West Coast Option:
Fly into Reno (they just opened the Truckee River to the public for kayaking, etc. thru downtown Reno....awesome and usage is free. Lake Tahoe is nice too)....then work your way towards San Francisco (coming down from Napa Valley or Sonoma....you can also hit the big redwood national park around there too)....then head to Yosemite. Work your way back up to Reno to fly out.

East Coast Option:
Fly into North Carolina (Charlotte or Raleigh/Durham)...then head West to Asheville (check out the Biltmore Estate and Blue Ridge Parkway)....then spend some time traveling thru the Smoky's. Work your way back to Charlotte or Raleigh/Durham to fly out.

Northeast Option:
Fly into Boston....then work your way up thru New Hampshire and into Maine (highly underrated things to do and sights). Work your way back to Boston to fly out.

Just a couple of ideas...

Hans

the ideas I would run through are these.

take a trip to NH or Vermont in the fall. And I could find more about this if you want. Rent a harley. Take the back roads out there just the 2 of you. The roads are twisty and beautiful. I am told the colors are breath taking. You would also get to ride

Take a trip to LA. While you are there jump into the race school that is offered out there since you are a track ho.

I love the idea of doing a trip to Napa and sonoma. It is one of the coolest and romantic places.

WHat the hell is wrong with vegas???? You have everything there?

ditto But, be sure to hit Napa Valley.

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

There's also the AMA races at VIR in September. My gf hasn't been to DC and that would make a nice drive through Virginia.

Keep the ideas coming. I'm gonna show the gf this thread to help us decide.

I like this idea. I was out there on business twice back in '02. The freeways are gogous...and the backroads even better.

Can you say bed & breakfast! This is your best change at getting laid the most times on a single trip.
