proxy bidding.. means someone else has a higher bid than what you just currently bid.

You can bid higher than the current price, but the current price won't get that high unless someone else bids it. So someone put in a high bid and is sitting waiting to see if it gets that high.

mike, you'll never win that way.

figure out realistically what you want to bid on that item and then input it as your final bid 30 secs before the auction ends

the system will proxy bid up an incremental value up to your max specified. hopefully, your max bid is better than everyone elses

Someone is bidding by proxy.

A buyer is automatically bidding in increments. You have to bid higher than their automatic bidding amount.

I agree with Ernie. Bid your highest allowable bid. If you get it you spent at or under your budget. If you dont it was going to cost more than your willing to bid.

I love all these little sniping techniques and other methods used to try to get auctions for less. Doesn't mean squat if someone is willing to spend more than you.
