Wedding Reception Question

My fiancee and I are getting married next may. We have it narrowed down to two places: Cantigny in Wheaton and Jacob Henry Mansion in Joliet.

We were wondering if anyone has ever been to a reception at either and your comments.

Also if anyone could recommend a nice church in Wheaton (or surrounding area) it would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Tom

As a Jolietian (is that really a word?) I would say don't do the Henry mansion. I haven't heard any specific copmplaints, just complaints in general.

That Neighborhood isn't too hot either. It is a beautiful building though.....And rumor has it there is a suite on site for bride and groom post wedding stuff?

I went to wedding about year ago at the Jacob Henry place. It was very nice. I have been to about six weddings in the last couple years including two this month. In terms of elegance and character, that place was the best so far. The food was 1st class and the desert bar was the best I have seen. The parking lot is huge and fenced as well. The neighborhood there is not all that bad either. Not exactly upper class but not the ghetto either.
That being said, I havent been to wedding at the other place so I have no comparison.

The last reception I was at was at the Holiday In on Rt 83 Just off 55. They put together a nice little package for my cousin. The room package was discouted, the suite was free as was another room or two. It was really nice inside. They also gave my cousing one free meal for two a week up to the wedding so he coudl sample their meals.

Me and my wife got mairred at the 1st maple street chapel in Lombard. It was wonderful. The Church is over 100 yrs old and the price was very cheap. We had our reception at Carrage Greens Country Club in Darien. It was worth it, the food was great. I can send you pics of the wedding if you want to see inside the church.

Go to Vegas. My wife and I went to Vegas and the wedding, airfare, hotel, pictures, and incidentals came to less than $3k and it was great....and easy.
