MSF. done.

After enduring the grueling heat this weekend... I am proud to say that I completed my MSF BRC course.

i know, i know.. it was an easy course to begin with, however it's really not the phyical attributes that matter.. its the principle.. to take the necessary steps to better one's riding ability.. eh?

Next up: ERC

hey,

weather or not the BRC is easy, hard. The stuff they teach in the classroom is very helpful (or at least it helped me) You don't know what you don't know, you know what I mean? So now it's time to take the ERC (that is what I plan to do anyway)

I dumped the rebel 250 on one of those slow uturns. I was leaning the crap out of it and the stupid leg protector bar started scraping. It was kind of fun actually since it wasn't my bike.

My name is JB, people call me JB

I started mine over the weekend, but it doesn't end until next Sunday. 2 girls dumped their bikes, while another strapped her half-faced helmet upside down. That shit was hillarious.

I got lucky and had some MX thing that was really light and handled great. I picked it because it was yellow, .

Congrats to all of you who took the BRC. Wait at least a year and many '000s of miles before you take the ERC on your own bike. Find a parking lot where you can periodically practice those drills. It helps you stay sharp, ready with the right reaction without having to think first!

It's amazing how easy it was for people to pass. During the quick stop test, one girl ran over a bunch of cones and never even stopped...yet she still got her pass card. Other people seemed like they were dropping their bikes all day, and managed to pass too. I watched one poor guy screw up a u-turn, put his foot down, stall the bike, then go out of the box...and he managed to pass. Another guy looked like he did perfectly fine, yet he was the only one in the class to fail.

It must be pretty hard for those instructors to grade accurately. I missed a few points for not using my rear brake when I know I did, then I somehow missed more for not taking a curve fast enough, even though I entered the curve at 20mph and throttled that little nighthawk all the way through it. I passed though, so I really don't care...but I can see how a decent rider could easily rack up the points and fail.

It's one of the most difficult things to do as an instuctor.

But yes you are right when it comes down to testing. It does not matter how good or as bad as a rider may have been prior to testing; it has no bearing in how the test is scored. Either the rider did something or they did not. It's pretty clear cut.
