My accident details!

Well, here's what happened:

At a graduation party, my kid brought his kx60. After dinner, he was allowed to start riding the oval (1 acre in size, 1 jump in the middle of the front straight) and the older kids got to use the atv.......a Kawy Prairie 650 4x4, a beast of a machine.

All was well when I was on the kx......kickin' some butt, chasing the wife on the atv. She stopped and I took over riding it........about 8 laps later, while drifting around turn 3/4, the ass end came around too far and instead of spinning out, it stopped (approx. 35-40 mph) and launched me off the left side. I saw ground-sky-ground etc.......about 4 rolls. Machine rolled once and landed upright, I landed about 20ft away in pain, covered in dirt. Surprisingly no rash or bleeding at all! Had my brand new helmet on too.....haven't got to see how bad it is yet(my head hit 2x and it was rocky in that spot), glad I had it on!

Sat up while holding my shoulder.......thinking I was just bruised up some......then it popped at my collar bone and I knew I was done. Went to the hospital........and after 5 hrs, and a shitload of x-rays later, I went home at 3am. Doc gave me painkillers(hydrocodone) to take....they make me drowsy but don't do much for the pain. Neither did the 14 miligrams of morphine they gave me while I was there.......shit had NO effect. The torridal took care of the back/leg muscle pain but thats it.

Injuries: 1 broken right collar bone in just 1 spot in front(4 chips in the same area)......said it would heal well as it has good alignment, gave me a sling...said to see ortho surgeon 2 days later. Also pulled right groin muscle and lower right back muscle.......them f'ers get stiff quick while just laying around!

Saw the ortho doc today and saw my x-rays......snapped it good in that one spot. He said it will heal on it's own OR they could go in and plate it..........same recovery time either way. I see him again in 2 weeks for more x-rays etc.......and I'm supposed to dangle the arm around some so it doesn't get sore.......that's gonna HURT!

Well, that's my story.....don't let it happen to you.

Shit, took me 36 yrs to break a bone......looks like I have another 36 yrs of clear 72, I'll probably need a new hip.

Dude same thing happened to me. Collar bone will heal up good within 6 weeks. I was riding a dirtbike also. But I over shot a 70 ft table top bottomed the suspension and went sideways. The best way to sleep is with lots of pillows behind your back. And take excedrin PM. And lots of ICE. Don't keep it in a sling for to long or your left shoulder will start hurting. Good Luck

Sorry to hear about the collarbone, Taz. I count my blessings that I didn't break mine yesterday. I bet that shit hurts!

Heal up soon.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

I bleed GREEN

I hope you get better soon! You got that cool new streetbike to ride!

Heal up soon! But hey, better to hurt yourself riding than to do it somewhere else, eh?
