Sbc Dsl

Anyone have sbc dsl. Its supposed to be available here soon and I have some questions. Does it come into your house on the existing phone line. How much for the modem. How much for the hook up or install. Whats the monthly bill, and are you happy with it. My neighbors are paying like $70-80 for comcast but Im not a cable subscriber. I have direct TV and their internet service seems a little pricey.

We have SBC...yes it is through the phone lines, pretty easy to hook-up. They give you filters to each phone line / connection.
We had a " deal" so the modem was included with the package. There are deals that they offer...check into . Yes I am happy with it, no complaints here.

I switched from cable modem to DSL mainly due to the price. The sbc dsl is $26 per month for a year with no setup costs and the cable modem was $50. I can't tell the difference between the speeds.

My name is JB, people call me JB

when i got mine they shipped all the stuff to my house, simple as pie to hook up and most all the stuff you need to filter the phone lines in the house.

BUT!!!!! if you have ADT you need a special filter that goes into your ADT box, i have a extra one that is new...just incase you need it, ill save you some money and HASSLE going to ADT to get it.

I have SBC Yahoo right now at 6000down/600up for $45 a month. My current employer resells MCI (Worldcom) and I used to work for Focal.

If you've got any specific questions, shoot me a PM and I can probably answer them.

(And yes, that 6Mbps d/l speed is correct

Hey, I work for SBC. When your DSL is available can I get your service as a referral? I would be happy to answer any questions you have.

I work for Comcast and the internet is not that high. It's 50.00 and we have specials going all the time. I'll see what deals they have this time. I think HDtony has Comcast internet too, ask him how he likes it.

There is wide open west and comcast here. They are about the same price and about the same speed.. I'd have to say that WOW is more reliable of the two though. Comcast did seem to have more frequent outages and times where the modem lost sync and had to be powered off and back on. Either one still kicks ass over dial up though. If DSL isn't ready yet, I'd just get the cable now. If you want, cancel the cable when DSL is installed. It makes life online so much better over dial up.. man, I can't imagine if I had to dial in. I'd almost never use the shit.

Ameritech (before SBC bought them) built the network that Wide Open West now uses to sell cable and broadband. I worked at that company almost from the day they started and it's good to hear that the network is still doing well.

Sure, A friend of mine works for them as well. He said that he has everything ready to go for my neighborhood but for some reason they havent turned it on. No one can give me any kind of time frame as to when they will turn it on. Its pissin me off..

That just about sums up Ameritech/SBC.
They can never give you a date for anything, and if they do - multiply it by 5 and figure that to be the real date service will begin.
