It actually might be doing that on purpose. Probably not, but i saw some thing on TV the other day about these ducks that had their eggs on a warehouse roof or something. Anyways, after the chicks hatched the momma duck would lead them all across the roof and over this drain hole. the chicks would follow her and fall into the drain where they would slide down the roof into the gutter and then she led them to the gutter downspout where they all fell in and popped out on the ground. She was doing it to get them off the roof. Maybe this ducks trying to get her kids to the gutter or something. Ehh... I dunno.

I saw that too, I forget what it was on but I thought it was awsome. They said as soon as one litter is out another momma duck starts it all over again.

Could you imagine?? How sad. Had the same thing happen at our firehouse last year. Luckily we witnessed it happening and the mother began quacking like crazy. Meanwhile about 3 feet down her 5 ducklings were stuck in the stormwater drain. Luckily it hadn't rained in a while so they couldn't get into the drainpipe. Well, we grabbed a 1 gallon bucket, punched a bunch of holes in the bottom of it for water drainage, tied a rope to it and sent it down. As the ducklings swam over the top of it we scooped them up one by one. The mother was never far away and she patiently waited until all were accounted for (about 10 minutes later) afterwards they continued their trek to the nearby pond. When they got to the road we even stopped traffic until they all got across safely. That was the last we saw of them. I'll never forget that day.
