any movers on the board??

I need to move a large metal box.. 10.5' wide, 3' deep, and 6' tall.. it sits on 6 casters and weights approx 4-5 thousand pounds.. it can't be scratched, dented, or damaged in anyway.. and it has no kindof of tie downs on it.. doesn anyone know a place were you can rent a box truck with a 6' liftgate that can lift that much weight? its too heavy to push it up a ramp on a normal U-haul. I'm pretty cheap and looking for a cheap way to move it. I have used a semi with a 53' trailer for moving large cranes and stuff to move this box in the past.. getting it done as a favor still cost a few hundred dollars to move it 5 miles.. now i need to move it 60.

any ideas?

I know we've rented box trucks with the hydraulic lifts in the past. Can't recall off the top of my head where we got em (or what the load cap was on the lifts) but I know they're out there. We even rented some that had air brakes etc. - which we found out later we probably shouldn't have been driving without proper supervision...details. Sorry I can't recall where we were getting em.

Sooo....what's in the box?

Remove the tools, remove the side boxes and it will be easier to move. Might mean 2 trips. If it cant be scratched, dented or damaged at all, hire professional movers since they woul dhave insurance for this.

I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested.

If you can't find anything my cousin owns a service center that has a flat bed tow truck. They just fired a mechanic and dropped his box off at his house. PM me details on where it is located and where it has to go and I will see if I can help you out. I can't promise anything but I will see.

Nice Box man. I would say go with the flat bed. I dont think it would be a good idea to use the lift. The pads could hammer the bottom.
