What are you suppose to do your last two weeks?

Well I'm trying to figure it out, you always give two weeks notice. There have been times with projects I'm working on that I would've needed more, but right now everything is kind of wrapped up, I have all my documentation distributed, and of course they aren't going to give me anything new. So what am I suppose to be doing for the last 2 weeks?

Start preparing for your new job. Maybe even try and find out what you'll be working on a do a little research on the side... start new contacts...etc. Otherwise just take your time cleanign out the office, say goodbye to your co-workers and maybe help out with someone else's project. Otherwise surf CLSB.

The othe option is to ammend your resignation and leave 1 week earlier because of lack of work. They take 1 week off before you start the new job. I highly recommend taking time inbetween. I didn;t an it was a real emotional drain jumping on one boat ot the other so quickly.

Yeah already given my notice. I've already looked around for information about what I'm going to be doing, but really the information I need for that I won't get until I'm there. I have the technical knowledge already the rest is business knowledge, and that I have to gain from them.

I've obviously been browsing CLSB, so you all will have to put up with probably a bunch of random posts from me for another week +.

Can't really edit my resignation they already have it, and large corporations are big on process, so just waiting now. I wish they'd pay me just to leave for competitive and security reason, but I don't see that happening, they usually only do that during lay offs. When they are afraid of retaliation.

Anyway, I'm headed to a smaller company called idealease they are a leasing company for all International trucks leased in the U.S. Canada, and Mexico. Pretty excited I like the smaller company environment, that's a lot of what had me so down here for so long, is deally with the politics that come from a Corporate Environment. Anyway, so now it's basically sitting back and waiting.

Already made sure everyone here has all the information they need, well at least the information that is transferable, I have a lot of experience, but you just can't write that down for someone.

Why would they pay you to leave? They can just fire you on the spot without any further pay.

I gave my notice last Tuesday and my last day is this Friday. New job starts on Tuesday, so while I could use a bit of a break, the money won't be a bad thing.

they dont pay you extra $$ to leave they just pay you the for the 2 weeks of notice that you gave and ask you to leave immediately. So essentially youre getting paid for 2 weeks youre not there

Just stop showing up. What are they going to do fire you?

Right, I get that...but when you give your 2 weeks notice, they can just fire you right then and there. For example if I'm a supervisor and it don't matter to me if someone resigns, then I might just tell them not to bother coming in tomorrow. Why would they pay you not to show up when they can just tell you not to show up and not pay you?

they fire you and then you file for unemployment = they still pay you a certain amount

you resign and when youre out the door they are done with you no questions asked. I personally never try and fire anyone. I make them a miserable employee till they quit

- start submitting email to all the bigwigs on how the company SHOULD be run

- tell all the fat chicks they'll never get a guy unless they unload the hippo baggage

- start having beer lunches and see how many farewell parties you can get co-workers to buy everyday for you until you're out the door

I was under impression that one can't claim unemployment if they were fired, only if the were layed off.... i might've been wrong though. If that's the case, imma gonna get myself fired!

Sort of.... you cannot get unemployment for termination for "cause".

So Biggy is sort of wrong. You can terminate sombody anytiem you want, but unless you have cause...you are eliminating the position, and therefore he is being laid off.

You can't just fire anybody anytime you want. You need to demonstrate that their performance was unacceptable or they had DOCUMENTED behavior issues. Otherwise the emplyoee could file a lawsuit for wrongful termination.

You cannot be singled out. By submitting your resignation, you therefore are protecting yourself. If they fire you after submitting a resignation, they must have cause or face a lawsuit.

What I did my last three weeks of work (they asked me to stay longer) 1. ABSOLUTLY NO WORK 2. Took a fully loaded jet fuel truck off roading and got stuck 3. Took a rental mini van that was recently returned off roading and launched it about three feet off a snow bank (the guy that returned it told me to) 4. Got drunk everyday 5. Drove my car all over the runways and taxiways to get from one side of the field to the other after being told repeatedly not to 6. Did a search on fatchicksforlineguys.com and left it up on the bosses computer 7. Pissed on coworkers sunglasses (he deserved it, asswipe) this was 3 yrs ago and I'm much more mature now but I'll always have the memories.
