Vacuum cleaners for pet owners

yes, I am bored-- it's been thunderstorming here all day.

I need a new vacuum cleaner. Mine absolutlely does not work-- it literally will not pick up any dog hair.

Pet owners-- what really does the trick? I need something affordable but effective that will last me 3-5 years.

The newer bagless units over $100 should do the trick. The more expensive once have HEPA level filters that also suck up dander and fine dust particles. You have to change the air filers every once in a while when the suction and discharge air seems to reduce.

I have a $160 windtunnel that rocks. Unfortunately, you do get what you pay for...I tried 2 other cheap-o ones before that, and they couldn't pick up anything. My dog killed each of those in about a month.

We have a Rainbow.....no, it's NOT cheap, but it'll suck the brass balls off a monkey, and it awesome for pet hair(we have 2 cats). Best part, NO filter......it uses water to grab the stuff you suck up and NOTHING gets by it back into the air.

Pffffttttt, for $350.00 a week I get this wonderful Polish woman named Stefaine, who is a cleaning machine! I gave her my credit card, told her to go out buy a vacuum, when she told me the one we had was a POS, she bought a Panasonic, we have had it for 5 years, PIA to change the belt tho Oh.....for the $350.00, she does laundry, runs errands, does windows, cooks for the boys and has helped me wrench on the motorcycle Best $350 I've spent too, and it's a tax write off too, cause, she is a "care giver", because the youngest boy is austic. Screw cleaning your own place

you guys spend too much on vacuums

i use a 1 hp mini wet dry, the thing cost like $25 at Home Depot or something and sucks like there's no tomorrow (i'm trying not to think of any jokes for you Rick ), it just has a small container volume so you have to clean it every 2-3 times, my significant other and i live in a good sized apartment with now 3 dogs and 2 cats, heh, lots of fur. those nice vacuums are nice i'm sure but i a po suka

Buy what you think is best and what you can afford.....

Rainbow = $1500, no bags/belts/no dust in the air/30 yr warranty.

$1500 / 30yrs = $50/yr and works better than all the rest.

I have this unit as well. IT IS INSAINLY AWSOME. I have been wanting a dyson for a bit over a year now and my current vac died so i was forced to go get a new one. I wanted a bagless one and well dyson only makes bagless vacs. i couldnt believe the crap it picked up from my carpet. it is extreamly easy to brakedown (as in cleaning). wouldnt trade it for the world. the only down side to this vac is its about 500-600$ @ bestbuy if i remember correctly.

i went to various sites and read all the opinions and to be honest i only consider the vac if its got 20+ responses and i try to only read the negative reviews the dyson has like 80+ reviews and only 3 negitive reviews and they still gave it rather high remarks.

If your vacuum has lost suction, it probably has clogged passages. Time to wrench on it a little! Take it apart as much as you can and clean every passageway, nook, cranny, crevice, and brush you can reach.
My brother bought an almost new vacuum at a garage sale for $2. It had almost no suction. We cleaned it out and found handfuls of hair, a highlighter, crayons, etc., all clogging the passageways between the entrance and the bag. Now it works like new.

Dude.....we both work hard for the money And like I said, since the youngest boy is austic, and she is a full time "care giver" it's a tax write off, and we need everyone we can get.
