Moving back to Chicago

For all of you old timers who may remember me, I'm leaving the sunny state of Arizona, and coming back to Chicago. I think I've hit every twisty road from Phoenix to Flagstaff (a sixty degree temperature difference), down through Sedona, up to Payson (voted one of the best scenic drives in the U.S.), more times than I can count. My true home is in Chicago, and I don't feel comfortable riding with anyone out here. They all either ride customs without any gear, or are a bunch of young squids. I've also found that many people enjoy getting ripped before taking off on their bikes when closing time rolls around. Twisty, clean deserted roads, winding trough the mountains, around lakes, and into forests are all beautiful; but nothing beats the Chicago skyline. I look forward to seeing familiar faces when I get back during the third week of this month. Hopefully I won't be too late to catch a group ride or two and see the leaves changing colors. Special thanks for keeping in touch Ernie, over instant messenger.

HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

I'll be back Sept 22.....long story, but I had four bikes out here at one time at realized that it was ridiculous. Saw the Mille sitting outside of a dealership, it was dirt cheap since no one out here knows what it is, so I picked it up. Have so much fun riding it, that I sold my R1 about two weeks ago for some cash to move back. I hate to admit it, but for a time, I went to the darkside and had a Texas Chopper, which I sold after only a month. What a piece of shit! There were recalls, it weighed a ton, impossible to turn, kickstand broke the second day I had it, didn't start half the time...just the trendy thing to have out here, and I realized that I don't want to ride a bike, just to have the "in" bike, but to be able to be on a bike that is fun to ride (and goes fast as well What was I thinking? Anyways, thanks for the replies. I'll check the message board and hopefully there will still be some autumn trips and weekly bike nights.

Glad to hear you headed back. I unfortunately have moved to Iowa... but you should attend the Starved Roack ride on Sept. 25th if you're not too busy moving back in. I'm planning on going unless the weather is bad. Hope you can come.
