MotoGP - who's going?

Well, I swore that if GP ever came back to the US I was going so it's time to put up or shut up. Anyone else going? Has anyone been to Laguna Seca that can tell me where the best viewing points are? Anything at the track that I shouldn't miss? We'll probably be in the area for a week.

Hotels are already booked full in the Monterey area so it looks like we will be staying closer to San Fran since we want to spend some time there sightseeing anyway. Beside the price gouging at Monterey hotels that weekend would cost us another $600 for the 3 days.

I'm pretty excited about seeing MotoGP at Laguna Seca. I thought it would be at Barber.

My wife thinks we're a bunch of Top Gun wannabes with our call signs, so for future reference, I'm Roger

I plan on going. I reserved a hotel a few weeks ago. Last July, I went to the World Superbike races and had a great time. The nice thing about Laguna Seca is you can stand in one place and see various sections of the track. From a grandstand point of view, we had tickets in section 11 which is the start/finish and front straight. Section 4 grandstands have excellent views of a few turns. Both grandstands have Jumbo screens to watch the Speedvision fee.

In the evening everyone heads into Monterey and cruises the Canery Row area.

FYI, I got a room at the Comfort Inn in Marina CA which is about 20 minutes from the track, you may want to give them a try. Last July, they were around $200 a night during the race weekend. Since I booked them early, I got them for around $140 this time.
