Semper Fi, Zoombyu! I spent 9 years in our beloved Corps before world peace broke out in 1994. Good luck to you as you join the finest fighting outfit in the world.

Can I offer some free advice to a young officer?
1. Listen to your Sgt's - they'll keep you alive.
2. Be very respectful to your Sgt Majors- that SOB has been doing this for 25 years and knows how to keep you out of trouble OR wreck your whooooole friggin world. The rank structure is actually the Father, the Son, the Holy Ghost, then the Sgt Major. Do not piss this man off.
3. Lead by example.
4. Don't micro-manage. Give your NCO's the authority to do their job.
5. If you see a PFC home on leave in a restaraunt, buy his meal. He'll pass the honor along someday.
6. Same goes if you see a WWII, Korea, Vietnam, or Gulf War vet. Honor those who wore the uniform before you.
7. For the rest of your life, always make it to the Marine Corps Ball, and help with the Toys for Tots campaign at Christmas. Its a wonderful thing to be around other Marines whether you're partying or helping someone.

Make us proud,
Rob Hamilton
