Citibank E-mail & Wireless Banking Alerts - Email ID Ci072632US2NG

I've gotten this email 3 times in the last 24 hours. I know I've never asked a credit card to deposit into my bank account either, and those digits have nothing to do with my bank account.

It wasn't just the email itself that rose a red flag, but it was also the www.citibank.com.FGI-EN.US part of the address.

Has anyone seen something like this, and who would I forward this to if it was a scam and not legit?

Ciao,
Lupi

Yes, that is bogus. Look at the rest of the "website":

http://www.citibank.com.fgi-en.us/
http://www.citibank.com.fgi-en.us/myfin/
etc....

No legit bank website would have unprotected root dircetories like that. It looks like someone just stole a single page of Citibank's site to make it look legit.

Delete that email and don't ever send info; a legit bank will never ask for personal info via email.

Here's info on that domain name:

fgi-en.us resolves to 69.10.152.97
IP Address 69.10.152.97 is in Canada

IP Whois Results:

Connecting to whois.arin.net...

RackForce Hosting Inc. RACKFORCE-1 (NET-69-10-128-0-1)
69.10.128.0 - 69.10.159.255
Memset Ltd. MEMSET-MAINNET (NET-69-10-152-0-1)
69.10.152.0 - 69.10.152.255
