Any R/C nerds like me out there?

after a five year leave from the hobby, i am getting back in. I know there was a R/C car thread a few months ago, but I am interested in Planes and Heli's

I always had Nitro planes, but am looking at the new electric park flyers or those new micro/mini heli's.

I just won the Realflight G2 with a few addons on ebay yesterday, so when that comes I'll be spending many many hours glued to that thing!!!!

what does everyone fly?

does anyone have either the Hunningbird V3, or Piccalo (sp?) FP or similiar?

my buddy has the LMH corona he wants to sell me, but that is a collective pitch and might be too much for me now, looking at a fixed pitch, and helihobby.com shows the picallo avaiable as a CP upgrade if needed.

Hey Alex can you post up an addy for this place? I have a Nitro 4-Tec, which is a little broken at the moment due to a huge fucking curb.

Boy, what a flashback. I had a few cars. In order: Tamiya Hornet, Tamiya Blackfoot, Original RC10 (gold alum. tub frame)eventually converted to a RC10 truck before it was offered, RC10 team car. Yes I am a old bastard, had the Hornet in 6 or 7th grade. Man that stuff was expensive. Loved building them more than anything.

I have flown the Piccalo. It is fun but very fragile and gets boring as hell after about one battery pack. If you want to get into choppers pick up a Lite Machines. It is small and has no collective pitch control and you can really beat the crap out of it learning how to hover and manuver. I also had a Nexus 30 for a while but the maintance and expense of crashes was not worth it. If I had money right now I would likely buy another Lite Machines, thing was a blast.

funny stuff, yeah i had an FX10 for a first car and a totally tricked out RC10 ( i drilled and milled the gold ano AL chassis), then a Losi, used to race and do all sorts of wacky shiz with the RC10, 6 foot airs and stuff, a lot of money for a whippersnapper (thanks mom!), they've come a long way with the cars and electronics

my bro in law is a big plane and helicopter hobby dude, cool stuff, really hard to fly those pups, takes skill to do it well

so why are the micro's boring after awhile?

what's better the lite machines 116, 117 or electric corona.

I like the simplicity (starting etc) of the electric but the flight times and reliability of the gas.

The little ones are boring because they do not have enough power to go for more then 5 minutes or so, they are so small and light that the litest of breezes including A/C vents in a building blow them around. They dont really do much, hover fly around in pattern. Maybe it was just me but the excitement factor was lacking. The LiteMachines I flew was the 116 but it was lacking on power so I would get the 117. The electric one is gool and just about the same power wise, but liek you said the battery only lasts about 7 minutes compared to the 15-20 you can get out of the gas models.

Man,

I have a GS storm racing buggy, that since I bought my bike has gotten used like once all year. I also have a mad force Gas powered monster truck. That think got broke at the beginning of the year and has been broke all year. It needs like a $7 bearing, but they way I look at is, that a $7 bearing is like a whole days worth of gas for the bike

There are prices on the website actually. You can get a whole setup for about $680 with everythign but fuel. Some hobby shops might have it for less then that or offer different radio combos but you get the jist about $700 and you can go fly, well after some assembly.
