Chime in, my little stoners...
Should the city of Chicago make it a ticket instead of an arrest for getting caught with an amount of weed that doesn't excede a certain limit? You would get a ticket that you would have to pay, just like a parking ticket or something. It's supposed to clear up the courtrooms and jails. What do you guys think?

ya, there are a number of precidents in other cities nationwide, and no "refer maddness" to report as a consequence. overall a trivial offense esp if kept within the law-set constraints imo

Sounds good to me.
It's not like someone who smokes pot is going out robbing, stealing or threatening anyone.
And its definitely not like a stoner is a threat to society.
Is good idea! Clear the court rooms out! Fine em!

Yeah, why not I suppose.
$250 up to 10 grams is what they said on the news, it's safer than alcohol.
Doesn't affect me.....

It makes sense whether you smoke a bail of the stuff everyday or dont even know what that funny smell is at concerts. Taking all the minor pot cases out of the courtrooms where most of them get thrown out anyways will make more time for real crime. And the tickets that are issued will generate more revenue that is good for all as well.

And what you guys don't realize is that this is just another scam to get money outta us...they tell you 'hey, this is good -- frees up the court system and lets you THINK we're loosening up our laws on drugs' when in fact they're just taking advantage of it more.
But If ya got money for drugs, ya got money for fines...

Its a good idea and one step closer but if the cops a prick he'll lock you up anyway. They can add on intent to distribute, paiphanalia(sp?) or DUI. Most cops won't bust you for small amounts anyway.

At least its not a mark on your record that would keep you from getting any (good)govt. jobs or screwing up your evening because you took a couple nugs to a concert. It sure we'll keep some alright people out of consequences created by an over restrictive govt. Sure they'll make a little money but like you said,"money for drugs money for fines". A little like having a bike, you better have some money for fines.

I think its a good idea. I'm not a smoker of anything, but I couldn't care less if someone has a little pot.
Alaska law states you can have up to 4 ounces (correct me if I'm wrong in the amount) in your house. They are in the process of passing a bill which would legalize it totally. I guess they are so far away they think the Feds won't bother them. *shrug*

I say go for it. If the gov't is too stupid to legalize it and cash in on the worlds most inflated sin tax...then the least they can do is stop spending $ to shuffle paperwork and start making a buck or two in fines.
In other news, there sure are some judgemental peeps on here.
For the record, I never inhaled!

Pot smokers come from all walks of life. You will not find a group in our society that doesn't smoke pot. Sure some more than others, but everybody knows a few somebodys that smoke it.
B.O.B
IS there an article about this? I used to be a heavy smoker, until i started riding. I'd rather save my money on trackdays than bags of the sticky.

i guess i should have been a little more clear.. i have no problem with people who do it once and a while or whatever.. but its the people who seem to not be able to live without it that i have a problem with.. just like with liquor....

I don't touch the stuff, but considering effects of alcohol can be far worse I don't think potheads should be sitting in jail cells.
