Tail of the Dragon, check this website out.

For those that have not ridden there yet...me.

This is a cool website for Deal's Gap.

Just be careful, 129 has made a local news station recently they lowered the speed limit AGAIN through the GAP it is now 35mph I beleive. They are also still looking to take more action to cut down on the amount of motorcycles that rail this road.

Local cops have been known to setup sting operations in which they will hand out "Drag Racing" tickets to mass quantities of riders all at once.

It is a great area though, and lots of other roads besides the GAP that are fun to ride.

The Gap is awesome. After my first trip in 99, I've been hooked and making it there twice a year since. I'm going next weekend, in fact.

The Tail of the Dragon .com has come a long way and is really a great resource for those interested in going. The people behind it are locals and true motorcycle enthusiasts. You can usually find them at the overlook mid-way through the Dragon selling t-shirts and stuff from under a small tent.

looks like a GREAT place to ride it which ya still can (just do the speed limit) prpblem is so much heat has been drawn to it..i rather stay away..untill its over...last thing i would want o is be cruising it with either a rocket or my goldwing and get pulled with some guys i dont even know and get nailed for drag racing on a goldwing? they would probably say to me (hey OLD MAN you can go) but if i was on a sportbike and still wernt doing nothing..well you know the story.

i rather go else where then to be in a rolling heard that has 80% chance of getting nipped

Saw one bike on the side a bit trashed shortly after that a full dress bagger that was either trying to keep up with me went down in a corner.. He was ok.. but the bike who knows.. a couple locals I road with told me was like 5 guys trying to pick it up..

21 hours from my Daughters to home all on the bike..

i was there last year, fun stuff but not for the weak. roads are intense but rewarding. There are even better roads in northern georgia rt 180 is even tighter, leads to the TWO camp ground for motorcycles only. rt 60 meets 180 and is a fast sweeping 30 mile stretch. cant wait to go back down there
in the 5 days i was down there i saw 11 motorcycle accidents, with one of those being fatal. Really kept me in check to behave had to ride it back home. 2500 miles in 5 days. total cost of trip was under 400 dollars!:-
