My refrigerator is broke..this blows

Ok so my one year old GE frig in my new condo is already busted. I can't believe this junk. Now I have to hope that someone has a copy of the receipt for this thing so I can fix it under the 5 year warranty. Anyone know if condo association or building managers keep that shit on file? Do I even need a receipt or will GE have my serial number on file? Any advice on what I should do?

The serial# should be on the fridge. Then you can go online, ounch in the # and even make the appointment online. There turn around time is pretty good. Good Lick!

As far as I know, appliances are your personal items and are not associated with the condo association. So you are on your own.

If you bought the unit from the developer AND you can locate him then maybe you can request that he send you the recipts for all the appliances in your unit. Maybe.

I'd just call Kemnore or Maytag (whoever) and explain the situation and see how far that'll take you.

I found out these parts aren't covered under warranty. I'm pretty sure I can replace them myself. I have some manuals and I am an Engineer afterall. Should cost about $35 in parts to replace the thermostat and heating coils.

Receipt should be with your condo papers, all warranty papers should have been given to you at the time of purchase (closing)

What brand are they?

The timer on my washing machine broke a month ago. I went on Sears.com, typed in my model number, saw an exploded view of the machine, identified the part ($60) and they shipped it to my home a week later. I was able to install it myself in 10 minutes. Probably saved at least $150.

Try this:

it's a GE. I found the parts i think I need and how to install them. Hopefully I'm right. I'm going to replace the thermostat and heating coil.
