Jury duty???

Im curious whos been called for jury duty?? Im 38 and have never been called. I have some friends that have been called 3 times already. I know it goes by the population in your area and the number of people they have to choose from but it just seems odd I havent been called yet.

Anyone else?

I got called once. Wrote a letter saying I was a student and it interferred with school and then ignored the summons.

I have been called 3 times. Most jury just serve 1 day in a waiting pen and never get picked. Make sure to bring some change for the vending machines, and something to read.

If you are picked then the story changes. I have never been picked/interviewed. Mostly just a waiting game.

I have neve been called for jury duty, howeve, everyone in my family has been called at least 2 times. Each time though they were excused based on the fact they mentioned they had heard something about the case already. I think that is the easist was to get out of it. Just mention that you have heard something about the case or be an extreme about a certain topic.

well past the 20 yr mark, but never been called. Not saying that is a bad thing though. don't really want to sit aroundall day for $17/day.

I haven't been called, but I've spent the last 8 years being uneligible. If I do get called I wouldn't mind going. Its my civic duty, and I'm salary, so I'm covered as far as pay.

My girlfriend was called last year and she sat through the selection process. She's really into law and stuff and found it quite interesting. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on how you look at it) she wasn't picked for the jury.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

I've been called for jury duty many times over the years. It's always been Cook County court--sometimes civil, sometimes criminal. I've been interviewed as a potential juror a few times, but never empaneled on a jury. In Cook County the practice is "one day or one trial." If you are called for jury duty and are not selected to sit on a jury, you only have to be there for one day. My brother has sat on a couple of juries over the years that were interesting to him. These trials only lasted a few days.

If you go, bring plenty of reading material (books, mags, etc.) to pass the time while you are waiting to possibly be interviewed as a potential juror.

I have no problem going for jury duty. It is a civic duty I'm happy to do.
