Free Motorcycle School

Thats right there is a free motorcycle school going on at Grattan Raceway April 2nd. Team Chicago and Grattan Raceway put on this event every year, myself and 4 other friends participated in this last year. All you need to do is pick up an application from 4&6 racing, Des Plainse Honda, Champion Cycle, Illinois Harley and others then mail it in. It has to be recieved by March 25th. This school is a licencing clinic so you will be recieving a certificate so you'll be able to get a racing licence. Also, there is a track day on April 3rd for everyone that took the calss and licenced racers for $60!!

It was free if you pre-registered. I think it was $25 if you just showed up and signed-up. Worth it? Yes and No. I went last year and the weather was not so good. It was sleeting/raining/snowing on part of the track for the last couple of sessions. You had to complete all the sessions without falling in order to get a racing license.
Also, as would be expected, you were seperated into groups based on type of bike and riding/racing experience. My group consisted of an extreme mix of riders and bikes which ended up slowing our whole group down to a crawl at times. And yes, you were required to stay with your group and that in itself created some dangerous situations with such a diverse group.
BUT it was free and Gratten is a very cool technical track, so depending on the weather, I may attend again this year.
Props to TeamChicago for putting this on and trying to build interest in our sport.

If you successfully complete the course, you get a certificate from TeamChicago stating that you did complete the racing school. You then need to take that and register with whichever org. you plan to race with.

WERA -
General Fees -
Membership (Race License) - $100 good for one year from date of purchase
Associate Membership - $30 also runs for 12 months

CCS -
$110 per season
$75 after July 1st.
$35 after Sept. 1st.

Brian, not sure about on-line forms. You can probably contact Dan Schmitt through www.teamchicago.com

what are the "tests" that require to be passed?

What do we need as far as the bike is concerned? no antifreeze, safety wire?

-1 day of class. the other days ae just cheap track days.
-There aren't any tests. You just ride the track and i you don't crash you get your certificate.
-You need to safety wire, have no antifreeze, remove mirrors, tape lights & windshield.

Guys, please remember it's mopst likely going to be cold that day. Dress warm!!! it was freezing last year!!! Oh and bring money for food.

Dan dropped off the forms this morning! You can pick one up anytime. Remember you must mail it in to Team Chicago or drop it off at 4&6.
We will not fax you a form , and you must remember to mail the form in.
Dan will have the forms to DesPlaines , Champion , Richs Yamaha and Ill Harley by Friday.

Kim is absolutely correct you still have to take the LCR class to get a CCS
Lic. Wera and Ahrma accept the Team Chicago Certs.!

Fast trax will accept the Team Chicago school and last year fast trax and ccs were working together so if you got your fast trax licence than you got your ccs licence. I talked to CCS and they say that if Team Chicago called them, that they could get it on the list of schools they accept.

FYI. They require at least safety wire the bike and also leather jacket. I for one do not have one yet. Left a voice mail for Dan, waiting to hear back.

File Too Large. Limits are 800 x 800. Your file is 1363 x 1940.

I do not want to shrink it because you will have to print it and send it. Hey mods is ther a way to get this slide just once

I just tried to upload it to where my pictures are, but if you download from there it will be too small to print. I really do not feel like sending multiple e-mails to everyone, sorry. Is there anyone that can host an original size?
