So what's the best plan of attack for St. Patty's day??

Since this is my first year living in chicago I figure I'd ask you guys what the best way to celebrate St. Patty's day is (besides drunk). I live by UIC so I'm thinking get up around 8, start with Kegs and eggs (green eggs an ham of course) either at my place or a bar, then I'll head down to the parade around 12 (with a flask or two), then I figure I'll head to Lincoln park and try to make it till 2Am. Anything I'm leaving out? Anyplace I need to hit up?

I was at Irish Eyes friday so I'm already training my liver.

For your first year - I humbly suggest the following: Get drunk. Go to parade. Continue getting drunk. Begin walking north. Pub crawl into any bar that A) has an irish name or B) has hot chicks or C) serves some kind of alcohol.

By the time you hit Division St. you'll be a train wreck. By the time you hit Diversey St. you'll be having conversations with imaginary and real friends and elephants. If they let you out of the ER before 4am, go ahead and shoot for Addison. I think if you get your stomach pumped twice in one night, the third one is free!!

See ya out there..

st patt's day is a blast in Chi town. I have a long standing tradition of heading to the South Side Irish Parade on Sunday March 13th. It is obviously the sunday before st patty's day but it is insane. I always make it to work the next day so it isnt anything to worry about. party away and hard.

i always get to the area around 8-9 am. i start drinking at that time and bring plenty of alcohol in a backpack. i am in no way the first person to start drinking there either. it is packed by 10 am. the bars are insane packed with women everywhere. it is a 15 block long party. the bars are the best part but you can watch the parade and drink like a fish in public. I recommend brining a cup to pour the beer into though for safe measure but I have litterally had a cop hold my beer for a second while I grabbed another one. It is crazy fun. Highly recommended. You are also done and really drunk by 4 in the afternoon so you can go home get a good night sleep before going into work on monday.

(a little tip though if you go.... do NOT plan on meeting the rest of your friends there. it is so busy and so many people that cell towers are jammed and finding someone is impossible. i recommend getting there with who ever you plan on spending the day with. )

here is the link. DONT WORRY ABOUT THE STRONG WARNING TALKING ABOUT PUBLIC DRUNKENNESS AND LIQUOR. THEY SAY THAT EVERY YEAR AND DONT FOLLOW THROUGH AT ALL..... http://www.southsideirishparade.org/

Yeah, and passed out by noon you sally ass punk!!!

There's so much insanity going on in Chicago on St. Pattys day that you really can't go wrong whatever you do. I am always much too hungover to make the parade, or too drunk to even realize its now Sunday.

normally what we do is this...go there on saturday since most people cant make it sundays these days..
we live out in the west burbs so we take the train into union...then head to harry carrys and meet the rest of the clan there...normally about 10-15 of us...then we drink till parade starts at harry's...then if we can, JUMP intot he parade with our booze and walk in the parade...then turn back around when it ends and hit bars on way back...then we go from harry's to irish eyes and whatnot in the area until last train leaves out of union...last 2 years i have not made it our doing to have to work a tues-sat schedule...but thats no longer in existance since i got laid off from at&t when they shut down our location in november...so i should be able to make it this year

...plus my gf was with me saying "omg slow down, slow down" and I was thinking "Lose annoying squalk box in passenger seat, afford more mods and have less weight in the car and on the back of the bike"...so i dumped her and I'm single again as usual...HERE KITTY KITTY!!!
