Atm card??

Anyone ever left an ATM card in the ATM? How long does it take to get a new card? Can the bank issue a new card in a day?? I am going to Vegas on Monday afternoon, but unfortunatley, I do not have my card... therefore, NO CASH! What to do???

I have lost mine three times. Each time I have had to go to the bank and have them issue me a new card. It takes about 5-10 business days. The new password shows up in 3-4 business days, but the card takes 5-10. Check with the bank where you left the card in the ATM. Sometimes the ATM sucks the card back in after 30 secs and they can retrieve it. Just tell them your story and they can see if they have it.

In the mean time, travelers checks may be your best bet.

Well, I left it in the machine of the bank that I bank with. So, I think it may be ok... But I"m not sure if they can give me a temp card?? Or cancel the old one and issue me a new one?? I know when I setup my account a while ago, they gave me a temp ATM card to use until the real one came in the mail... Other than that, I guess I can just withdrawl the money in cash from my account, but I don't really want to take that much in cash to Vegas... -sigh- what to do...

WSE is right...my wife works at the local credit union...part of her job is to fix the ATMs in the area that belong to her employer...if the machine kept your card, they can get it out for you, no prob...

After years of using them, I went through a period where I lost a few this way. I've had no luck at all getting the original card back.

No, but I pulled up to my atm that someone who did leave it there.
I took the card and called the number on the back to report it lost/found.
You better do the same or someone could go on a shopping trip.

Better yet dont drive away from the machine while its asking if youd like to make another transaction. Someone might make a withdrawl.

If you leave your ATM card in the Atm most banks will destroy the cards when they restock the ATM. As for getting a new one that should be simple. I work at TCF and we issue ATM cards on the spot. Was you card just an ATM or a Visa Debit Card? If it has a Visa symbol then it will take about a week to order a new one.

Thanks for all the wonderful advice!

I called the bank, and they deactivated the card and put an order on the new one... but it will take 5 to 7 business days to get here. In the mean time, they can issue me a new ATM card tomorrow at 10:00 am, but my daily limit will only be $100. So, I guess I'll have to just get the whole trip's worth of cash tomorrow before I leave. That will suck, but it looks like it's my only option. I guess I could go with traveler's checks and cash them in at the casino. I don't konw, it's just a whole big PITA.

Here's an idea. Pay for me to come with. Then you can put your money in my account and when you need more you can just ask me. LOL

since you're getting a replacement card sent, call them back and ask for two this time. keep a spare one at home just like you do with emergency car key, credit card, etc.

Wow. This is pure genius. I can't believe I've never thought of that

I just lost mine last week, still haven't gotten a new one.
