If you had a choice where would you go and why?

I have a choice to either go to the IBM conference in Lake Buena Vista, FL in September, or Denver Co at the end of May. Both for a week.

Denver, I can either ride my bike there, or trailer it. FL, might be able to rent it. I think I would have a better time in CO enjoying the mountane once I am done with the conference, then humid FL. What do you guys/gals think?

Florida is hot, humid, and full of mosquitos. Very over-rated.

Colorado is cool, dry, and full of mountains. My kind of place.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

Thanks guys, I was leaning towards CO, but since I never been there before wanted to hear the masses.

Keep in mind, you will most likely need to keep most of your recreation on the roads. Most of the snow will be melted unless you go to A-basin, and it's going to be "mud season".

what conferences are these? Sept in FL being Common? I am drawing a blank. I havent scheduled my calander out that far yet. I might be at one of these also.

oh and I would vote for FL. Sorry. I lived in Orlando for 2 years. In sept, it will be warm during the day, but not horribly hot. July and Aug are the hottest months. The rain season will have ended by Sept also. Sept nights in Florida is incredible. Perfect for riding.

I vote for FL since Lake Buena Vista is orlando and Disney and Universal. Lots of good bars around there too.

Take a drive up to the top of mount evans while your out there. It gives new meaning to the phrase on top of the world. although in may you might not be able to get up there due to snow at that altitude. theres still snow up there in July

FL - IBM DB2 conference Sep 12-16
CO - IDUG Conference (International DB2 User Group) May 22-26

Are you a DB2 DBA?

Problem with going to FL, I am not sure I want to trailer the bike that far. keep in mind I am going solo.

Denver is a 15 hour drive, Florida is 19 hours. I've done both.

Yeap. Don't get me wrong I can handle both. With Denver I a can even ride there in 2 days. Where is with FL I would need to push more then I would like.

Isn't Sept the start of Hurricane season too? (wouldn't be too fun riding an evac route into Georgia....stick with Denver )

Look, I can appreciate this. I was young too, I felt just like you. Hated authority, hated all my bosses, thought they were full of shit. Look, it's like they say, if you're not a rebel by the age of 20, you got no heart, but if you haven't turned establishment by 30, you've got no brains. Because there are no story-book romances, no fairy-tale endings. So before you run out and change the world, ask yourself, "What do you really want?"

Nov 1 starts Huricane season

No I am not a DBA but I sell to those people all the time. I am actually with an IBM Partner.

FL is only 17 hours driving. I have done it like 15 times realistically. last time was in Dec. both CO and FL are rediculously easy to do. i stand by my decision

Dirtbiker, it does rain up sometimes. I'll take a picture of it from my 18th floor window down here in the loop. Weird stuff.

Definatly go to Denver. I lived in Colorado Springs for a long time (i was stupid and left there for Chi) and its awesome out there. Of course, even though Denver is the worst city in Colorado, its still better than any city in Florida. If you get a break down there check out both Boulder and Colorado Springs. If you want, I can give you directions and details about some of the best restaurants and bars in Co Springs, plus some great out of the way roads to hit. Also, drink up on that Colorado beer, its the best in the country. Try anything and everything by Bristols brewing co and New Belgium brewing co.
